Your First Home scheme

The Government's scheme is designed to help more first-time buyers purchase a new-build home with a smaller upfront deposit.

How could Your First Home help me?

The scheme will be aimed at first-time buyers in England, particularly those with a regular income who have struggled to save a large deposit.

Detailed eligibility criteria, income thresholds and property price caps will be announced by the Chancellor at the Budget in October.

A simpler route to your first home

Based on what has been announced so far, eligible first-time buyers may be able to:
  • Buy a brand-new home with just a 2.5% deposit
  • Receive a Government equity loan of up to 20%
  • Fund the remainder through a mortgage
  • Benefit from an initial interest-free period on the equity loan
In simple terms, you would contribute a deposit, the Government would provide an equity loan, and a mortgage would cover the rest.

Final eligibility criteria and scheme details are still to be confirmed.
