building a better world

Supporting Nature

We all feel better after spending time outside and connecting with nature. The creation of green spaces, protection of wildlife and biodiversity improvements are all key considerations when we plan our new developments. We create communities where you can enjoy the great outdoors on your doorstep, in an environment that encourages nature to thrive.

How do we support nature?

It’s not just people that need a safe place to call home… We install a variety of wildlife enhancements when building our developments and have committed to increasing natural habitats.

In 2021 we launched our environment strategy, which outlines our pledge to support nature. As well as installing hedgehog highways, bug hotels, bird and bat boxes and wildlife ponds, we’ll also introduce 200 beehives across our developments by 2025!

We’re encouraging our customers to engage with nature too by creating 20,000 more nature friendly gardens in the next two years. In addition, our ‘Home for Nature’ toolkit is full of ideas that we’re implementing on our sites from planting wildflower meadows, to integrating hedgerows, trees and ponds.

hedgehog highways?

Sadly, the number of hedgehogs is declining in the UK.

To help this much-loved species thrive once again, we’ve teamed up with the experts at Hedgehog Street. As part of this partnership, we’re installing hedgehog highways in our new developments, offering them a safe route to find food, nesting sites and mates.

BugLife

In the fight against climate change, we mustn’t forget the importance of pollinators - we owe so much to bees, bugs and butterflies!

We’ve partnered with leading wildlife organisation, Buglife, to help improve the habitat for pollinating insects across our developments and provide tips on how to make your garden more pollinator friendly.
