“The moment we walked through the door, it felt like home” - First time buyers find the perfect home after six month search
Engineers Devendra Katre (35) and Vaidehi Shivade (34) had been renting a two-bedroom apartment in Birmingham city centre when they decided to take their first step onto the property ladder. After a six month search, they found their dream home at Appledown Gate.
Devendra said: “Our requirements were clear: we wanted a detached four-bedroom house with a spacious garden. Until we visited Appledown Gate, none of the homes we viewed truly met our expectations.”
The couple had researched Taylor Wimpey and, after reading positive reviews online, decided to visit Appledown Gate and explore the showhomes. It was there that they discovered the four-bedroom Rossdale house type, which met all of their needs.
Devendra said: “The moment we walked through the door, it felt like home. It immediately stood out to us; it was detached, positioned on a corner plot, and had a large south-facing garden with the outdoor space that we had been looking for.
“I was particularly impressed by the separate utility access to the garden, the French doors flooding light into the living room, and the nicely positioned garage.
“The location also made sense for us, with good proximity to our workplaces and suitable schools in the surrounding area. Everything seemed to come together, and for the first time in our search, we felt that this could be the one.”
We gave Devendra and Vaidehi a 5% deposit contribution and a discount on optional add-ons for their new home, which they moved into in November 2025.
