We provide post-lockdown boost to South Wales schools

As younger pupils across Wales return to the classroom after the latest national lockdown, our South Wales team has made donations to three schools, recognising the hard work and dedication of teachers and pupils.

Ysgol Iolo Morganwg and Y Bont Faen Primary School in Cowbridge, as well as Rhws Primary School in Rhoose, have each been gifted £500 to put towards a treat or trip for the children.

Our South Wales team also delivered activity packs to each school for the children of key workers, which included English or Welsh versions of the ‘How we build your home with Millie Mortar and Handy Andy’ book, various activity sheets and colouring crayons. An e-version of the pack was also sent to the pupils studying at home.

For Rhws Primary School, the £500 donation will be put towards much needed playground equipment. Head Teacher, Matt Worth, said: "Rhws Primary Reception class were delighted to learn all about building homes with Milly Mortar and Handy Andy. I would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for the activity packs and their generous donation to our school for outdoor equipment."

Sara Rees, Head Teacher at Ysgol Iolo Morganwg, said: “As more pupils return to school, our focus will continue to be on the health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff. This kind donation from Taylor Wimpey will help us to develop our essential outdoor classroom and continue the renovation of our green space.. Our year 3 pupils have also enjoyed the Welsh pack provided by Taylor Wimpey as they compare house building now with Celtic times! Diolch yn fawr!”

We wanted to do something to help the schools closest to us, as well as pupils and parents who may have been running out of activities to do during lockdown.
