Supporting our communities

The global initiative, organised by UK charity Living Streets, aims to encourage families to leave the car at home and walk to school.

Pupils at The Canons CE Primary School, Bedworth, Tynsel Parkes CE Primary, Uttoxeter and Stenson Fields Primary Community School, Sinfin all received a large quantity of high-visibility jackets.

Staying active and safe

Michaela Fallon, Headteacher at The Canons CE Primary School, said: “International Walk To School Month plays an important role in promoting a healthy lifestyle for our youngsters, whilst also giving them a first lesson in how to better look after our planet. The children really enjoy walking to school together, and with visibility decreasing at this time of year, Taylor Wimpey’s kind donation will ensure they can continue to do so safely.”

Rachel Chandler, Principal at Tynsel Parkes CE Primary, said: “International Walk to School Month is a wonderful initiative that encourages pupils to be active, enjoy the fresh air with their parents and friends and start the school day off in the right way. We’re delighted with Taylor Wimpey’s kind donation of high-visibility jackets, and on behalf of everyone at Tynsel Parkes CE Primary, I’d like to thank them for their support.”

Carl Cooke, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey North Midlands said: “International Walk To School Month is a fantastic initiative to get pupils more active during the day and reduce the number of cars on the road. We’re delighted to once again support the scheme, and provide pupils across the region with some high-visibility jackets that’ll help ensure they commute to and from school safely.”
