Andy Clayton, Trustee and Secretary for Ashton United in the Community, said: "We are so grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their kind funding that enabled us to hold the Tea Party. 36 of our older local residents attended the event and thoroughly enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea and a glass of "fizz" as well as the chance to meet up with friends in a safe environment for a good chat. Hopefully we can make this an annual event to compliment our Luncheon Club that runs through the winter months and make a big difference to those who otherwise would not get out of their homes."
Ashton United in the Community aims to support the work of volunteers who help to organise projects and events in Ashton-under-Lyne. By addressing local issues and offering volunteer opportunities, the charity helps tackle poverty, loneliness, poor health and unemployment.
