Takes warmth from outside to heat your home

What is a ground source heat pump?

A ground source heat pump is a heating system that draws natural warmth from the ground. Pipes draw heat from the ground, a centralised energy centre and Heat Interface Unit (HIU) in each home converts it into usable warmth. The system operates efficiently throughout the year, even in cold weather.  It’s a low-carbon, sustainable way to heat homes within new developments.

What is a ground source heat network?

A ground source heat network distributes the natural warmth from the ground to multiple homes via a centralised energy centre and shared underground pipe system. It has the potential to greatly reduce household emissions, offering a clean alternative to traditional fossil-fuel heating—delivering comfort and efficiency throughout entire neighbourhoods.

In recognition of Scotland’s New Build Heat Standard, we are dedicated to providing a ground source heat network in Polmont, which is part of the broader master plan for this development of around 500 new homes, delivered in partnership with another homebuilder. Every home in the development will have a Heat Interface Unit ground source heat pump connected to the heat network.
