Commitment to tackle climate change

We want to play our part in creating a greener, healthier future for our customers, colleagues and communities and we’re taking action to reduce our carbon footprint.

Committed to climate action

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time and it’s something we take very seriously. We’ve cut carbon emissions intensity from our business by 44% since 2019 and now we’re taking action to go even further.

We’re working hard to achieve ambitious carbon reduction targets for our business, our supply chain and the homes we build for our customers. We've committed to reach net zero emissions by 2045, ahead of the UK's national target.

More energy efficient means lower carbon

Energy efficient homes are good for the planet because less energy means fewer carbon emissions. An energy efficient home can also save you money on household bills.

Our homes have a variety of energy saving features including low energy lightbulbs, energy efficient appliances and water saving taps. Data from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) found that new build homes are reducing water usage by almost 8.5 billion liters a year, saving homeowners over £120 a year on their annual water bills.*

Our developments are designed to make it easy to walk, cycle and take public transport, helping you to cut your travel footprint. We’ve installed 13,200 EV charging points on our homes since 2021.

Selecting sustainable, lower carbon materials

Working with our suppliers, we are selecting more sustainable and lower carbon materials to build our homes. We’ve made some positive steps so far. In 2025, we used insulation in our homes made from recycled glass that was the equivalent to around 9 million wine bottles. We are also using recycled materials in our kitchens and many of our uPVC windows include recycled plastic.

Powered by green electricity

Behind the scenes, we’re powering our business on clean, green energy. We now buy 100% renewable electricity to run our offices and new construction sites which accounted for 88% of our total electricity consumption in 2025.

Also, 91% of the vehicles in our fleet are now electric or hybrid.
