Supporting the communities in which we build
As part of our national Proud campaign, we asked people to vote for a community cause to receive a donation of up to £500. Congratulations to our winner, The Zone, and our two runners up St Luke's Hospice and Jeremiah's Journey. Thank you all for your votes.

Proud to leave a lasting legacy in Sherford
Volunteers from Sherford Vale School near Plymouth have been getting green-fingered by planting 150 daffodil bulbs in front of the school reception. The bulbs were donated by our Exeter team as part of Taylor Wimpey's national Proud campaign to show the our commitment and pride in leaving a lasting legacy in the communities in which we build.
The planting took place on Thursday 8th November 2018 and the bulbs are set to grow into a bright, floral tribute to the local area. As well as pupils and staff from the school, members of the Sherford team also joined in with the planting.
Helen Tipping, Headteacher at Sherford Vale School said: “It’s great to see a company like Taylor Wimpey think about the wider community while they are building in the local area, and leave something beautiful behind that will last for years to come. We all loved getting to work with our spades and can’t wait to see the results.”

Couple makes a fresh start at Sherford thanks to Taylor Wimpey
After tragically losing their son, Marilyn and Michael Ferriday decided it was time for a fresh start. The service offered by Sherford's sales team combined with the stress-free Part Exchange scheme gave the couple the ideal solution and they are now enjoying life in their new home.
Michael said: "It hadn’t crossed our minds to buy a new-build property, but when visiting Sherford Lauren saw that my wife was upset, and asked if she could show us around the development, she was amazing from start to finish. Both myself and Marilyn fell in love with the house straight away, Marilyn walked in and that was it - we knew we’d found our dream home. It was cheaper than what we’d been looking at, yet the quality and size of the house was second to none.
“Even better, the customer service was exceptional and Taylor Wimpey made everything so easy. I would like to thank everyone involved because they made it so simple when it could’ve been really stressful. The whole team went above and beyond, for example when we moved in it was snowing and they’d put a beautiful big purple bow on the front door. We are so grateful to everyone at Taylor Wimpey, and without them this move would not have been possible.”
Marilyn added: "I honestly can’t thank Taylor Wimpey enough, I’m so happy. This is the best thing we’ve done.”

First Sherford residents are living the dream
On 22nd of November 2017 Chloe Bradley and Josh Ackland became the first residents on their street at Sherford. Since making the most of the Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme and moving into their three-bedroom home from a rented flat in Plympton, the couple have been joined by plenty of new neighbours and are enjoying life in the ever-growing community.
Chloe said: “I can’t believe that we’ve gone from renting a flat to living in a three storey townhouse, we still look around and think 'Is this our home?' It didn’t feel real at first. We’d always liked the idea of a new build but we didn’t think we’d be able to get a home like this. It’s just incredible.
“I’m so grateful that we’ve been able to cut out all the fuss you get with an old house. Help to Buy wasn’t stressful, it was quite the opposite, and only needing a 5% deposit made our move possible. The whole process was much faster than expected; we came back from our holiday and the Sales Executives told us we could have the keys straight away.
“For a young couple who wants a family, Sherford is perfect because you can plan for the future. We can see the town developing and it’s brilliant to watch the school that our children will go to being built. It’s reassuring to know that we’ll have everything we need, I can honestly say that we could live here forever.”

The Morgans make their mark at Sherford
Nicola and Jason Morgan needed more space for their growing family, and thanks to the Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme they were able to find the perfect property within the new community at Sherford.
Nicola said: “We were all so excited about Sherford, a new community, a new town, and the homes are beautiful. Prior to our current home, we were based in a three bedroom cottage but as five became six it began to feel a little too cosy. As much as I loved our cottage, it was missing several key features, for example there was no garden and no garage causing obvious space issues. I knew it was time to start looking for a new property, and my husband, Jason, grew up in Plymstock; we’d always wanted to return so it felt like a good time to start looking in the area.
“We decided to investigate the options at Sherford, and whilst visiting the development we were shown around our now property. As soon as I walked in I just knew. The bigger picture was clear in my mind; this will be our future home and we can watch our children grow with this town. I get to watch my son's primary school being built, I look outside and see the sports pitches that my children will be playing on - it’s amazing.
"The Taylor Wimpey team have been amazing from start to finish, nothing was ever too much. I don’t think I will ever be able to stress just how happy I am in my new home. Taylor Wimpey ticks all boxes, with regards to space, design and excellent features. We all had an input into what we wanted from our new home and we definitely got everything and more with Taylor Wimpey."

Plymouth family proud to be part of our community in Sherford
Looking for a home that offered more space, Matthew O’Connor, 34, moved to Sherford with his young family after selling their barn conversion in south Devon. Using the Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, the family was able to buy a five-bedroom Willow townhouse with just a 5% deposit.
Matthew said: “I’d heard a lot of positive rumours about Sherford but my first impressions were that it was amazing. I’d never seen anything like it. The homes were completely different to what you’d normally see in a new build.”
Matthew added: “I absolutely love the Willow - the brickwork, the height of the ceilings, the sash windows - and every room has so much space, and the kids are definitely happy that we’ve turned one of the five bedrooms into a playroom for them. Sherford itself is a pleasure to live in and we feel very proud to call it home. The best thing about the development is simply being a part of it. So many people say we’re lucky to live here.”
Melissa Langton, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “It’s always brilliant to hear about our happy customers. Anyone who has visited Sherford already will know how impressive the design of our new homes is and the Willow is a real highlight of the development. At Taylor Wimpey we’re proud of both the quality of the homes we provide and the initiatives we offer to help make purchasing one of our homes as easy as possible.”
