We made a £250 donation to Bordon Junior School. The donation was organised in celebration of World Book Day, held on Thursday 5th March, and has allowed the school to refresh the shelves in its library with a range of new books for its pupils.Nida Salahat, Assistant Headteacher at Bordon Junior School, said: “We’re so grateful for the donation from Taylor Wimpey. It was wonderful to see the pupils' reactions when the new books arrived. Reading is essential for everyone here at Bordon Junior School. It inspires creativity and curiosity, and this donation has been a fantastic boost for both our staff and pupils.”
We work with schools and communities around our developments, and often support causes that promote literacy and reading. At Taylor Wimpey South Thames we have funded little free libraries at our Swingate Park development in Hailsham and Friars Oak in Hassocks, aimed at encouraging a love for reading within the communities.
Leon McGinty, Acting Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey South Thames, said: “We’re delighted to hear the donation has been so well received. At Taylor Wimpey, we are always looking to work with local schools on campaigns like World Book Day to encourage a lasting interest in reading among young people and we’re really pleased to see our donation to Bordon Junior School put to good use.
“Having seen the positive impact of our little libraries at Swingate Park and Friars Oak, we hope to continue growing this network across our developments to benefit even more residents and local communities.”
