There is a real sense of community at Stour VIewThe Braxton
William chose a Braxton house type which is split across three levels. "The open-plan top floor with its high ceiling is a fantastic feature, making it a perfect large office space filled with light," he said. "The house offers lots of space and light, and the garden is reasonably sized, providing enough outdoor space for us without being overwhelming to maintain."
Settling into their new home has been a joy for William and his daughter. "We are settling in very well and enjoying life in our new home. The sales team has been incredibly supportive, making several visits to ensure everything is to our satisfaction.
An easy choice
Opting for a new build was an easy choice for William, given his previous positive experiences with Taylor Wimpey. "The biggest advantage is that a new build is ready to move in with no additional work needed," he explained. "Having had previous experience with Taylor Wimpey, I knew we could expect a home built to our specifications. The ability to customise certain aspects to our liking was very appealing. Moreover, new builds come with warranties, which provide peace of mind. Everything being new and shiny is a bonus!"His decision to choose a Taylor Wimpey home was reinforced by the excellent customer service he had experienced in the past. "I had previously lived in a Taylor Wimpey home and was impressed by the excellent customer service throughout the buying process. The development itself is thoughtfully designed with plenty of green spaces, and the garden placements are well considered to maximise privacy."
Highly recommended
"The entire process of buying with Taylor Wimpey was fantastic. The sales representatives were excellent, keeping me informed at every stage of the build process. They explained everything in a straightforward, no-nonsense manner, and it was evident that they genuinely wanted to help. The experience was as stress-free as purchasing a new home can be."
William said for anyone considering buying a new build with Taylor Wimpey. "I would highly recommend it. The process is smooth and well-supported by a professional team. The quality of the homes and the thoughtful design of the developments are outstanding. Taylor Wimpey’s commitment to customer satisfaction is evident at every stage, making the home-buying experience both enjoyable and reassuring."
William’s experience at Stour View underscores the exceptional community and superior service provided by Taylor Wimpey, making it a highly desirable place to call home.

Before relocating, William and his daughter lived in another Taylor Wimpey development, which they loved. However, they needed to be closer to his daughter’s school.
"The schools in the Stour View area are top-notch, providing a high-quality education," William noted. "Additionally, the convenience of being within a five-minute bike ride to the train station made it an ideal location for us, easing my daily commute significantly."
Stour View immediately impressed William: "I chose Stour View for several compelling reasons," he shared. "The development is well situated with beautiful views of the Stour Estuary. It offers a quiet and family-friendly environment, making it perfect for us. Being within easy reach of my daughter’s school was a major factor, as was the easier commute to work. My first impressions of the development were very positive; the peaceful ambiance, coupled with the thoughtful layout and the scenic surroundings, made it an easy decision."

After studying in London and living in rented accommodation, the Covid-19 pandemic prompted them to seek a new lifestyle. They moved to Colchester to be closer to family, enjoy more outdoor space, and save for their first home.
"In May of 2023 and after not really being inspired by the houses on the market, Luke suggested that we should check out the local new build sites," Symone explained. The Brantham site stood out due to its scenic setting and convenient commuting connections. "We were immediately impressed by the development's peaceful environment and abundant green spaces." They added.
The Braxton is just perfect for us
They were initially considering a three-bedroom house, either The Easedale or The Braxton. "Once viewing The Braxton and seeing the size of the bedrooms, we were convinced," they said.
"The Braxton is just perfect for us. It's a spacious three-storey home that strikes a great balance between social areas and private retreats, which is exactly what we need."
The open-plan kitchen is so inviting for meals and chats, and we love having a separate living room for cosy movie nights. On the first floor, there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom, perfect for guests. And the main bedroom on the top floor is like a calm, light-filled sanctuary – it's just what we were looking for in a primary suite. This layout means we can each have our own space to work, relax, and unwind. The Braxton really ticks all the boxes for us," they added enthusiastically.
Buying a new build
Initially, they hadn't considered a new build. Luke shared, "I know that sometimes there are a lot of unforeseen costs when buying a house, ranging from rewiring to getting the roof repaired, or just not liking the kitchen you have inherited. We figured why not buy a new build that comes with guarantees and the option of picking the style of your kitchen and bathrooms."
To their surprise, they discovered that they could afford a new build with numerous personalisations much sooner than expected. "Once this was the case, I think our minds were made up rather quickly. Dawn and Chris, the sales representatives, were instrumental in guiding us through the process as first-time buyers. Even though some properties weren't ready for viewing, the team arranged appointments at other nearby developments that suited our schedule, making the process seamless." Symone said.
Life at Stour View
Settling into their new home has been a joy. "We are loving life in our new home. It has been easy to settle into a new rhythm, and our two dogs love their new walking route around the pond," they shared. They also appreciate the diverse and friendly community of families, couples, and retirees, which enhances the sense of belonging.
Reflecting on their experience, they expressed their gratitude: "Overall, buying with Taylor Wimpey has really been such a positive experience, especially as first-time buyers in this economy. Anything that we weren't sure on, or any legal jargon that was overwhelming, was explained to us with patience, leading us to be confident in all of our choices."
Luke and Symone look forward to many happy years in their new home at Stour View. "We plan on living in this house for a very long time and thank everyone on the team who have made this move so easy," they concluded.
Their journey with Taylor Wimpey has been a remarkable step toward their dream life, offering them the perfect home and a vibrant community to be a part of.
