We are celebrating the opening of new play areas at three of our developments in Kent. The play areas, located at Oakapple Place in Barming, Wellington Paddocks in Deal and St Augustine’s Place in Hildenborough, have all been named by residents who were invited to a special event to mark their openings.
Anna Lee, a resident at St Augustine’s Place, named ‘Primrose Park’, ‘Paddocks Park’ was the winning suggestion by Jordan and Annabelle Moores of Wellington Paddocks and ‘Little Apples’ was the name put forward for Oakapple Place by Rebecca Morin.
Jordan and Annabelle Moores, said: "It’s exciting to have played a part in naming the new play area. We chose ‘Paddocks Park’ because we felt it was a memorable and fitting name, and we can’t wait to see families enjoying it."
Jason Stokes, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South East, said: “We are thrilled to officially open these new play areas, which have been designed with children and families in mind. It was wonderful to invite residents to get involved in the naming process, and we hope that residents, and the wider community, will enjoy using the space, getting outdoors and having fun for years to come!”
We donated over £29,000 to good causes in Kent in 2024
We supported a variety of organisations including Amber, a charity supporting young people facing homelessness, who received a £22,000 donation with funds raised during our charity golf day.
Through our Community Chest initiative, which invites Kent residents to nominate local causes for donations, we contributed £1,000 each to Making Miracles and The Christmas Dinner Folkestone.
Tom Wells, a volunteer at The Christmas Dinner Folkestone, said: “A massive thank you to Taylor Wimpey for such a generous donation.”
Kelly Wells, CEO for Making Miracles, said: “We are so delighted to receive this donation in our tenth year having supported over 5000 families locally. It will help us to continue to offer our services and provide bereavement care for people in their darkest moments. Thank you so much.”
We also supported local community events, including the Herne Bay Festival and Folkestone Armed Forces Day, and sponsored sports teams including Herne Bay FC Women and Dartford FC, with a total of £1,000 in sponsorship. Local primary schools also benefitted from donations during World Book Day and Walk to School Month.
Jason Stokes, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South East, said: “From schools and sports teams, to community events and charities who provide vital support to people in need, giving back to the communities in which we build is at the heart of what we do. We’re pleased to have supported a range of groups in and around Kent in 2024 and we’re dedicated to doing more of the same in 2025.”
First time buyers step onto the property ladder
Koran and Natalie Murphy-Saffet, both 32, recently made the exciting move to Wellington Paddocks.
After living in an apartment in Medway, Koran and Natalie were eager to find their dream home and Wellington Paddocks was exactly what they were looking for. The development's peaceful location offered a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of their previous city lifestyle.
Koran says: “Medway is essentially a city, and we lived right in the heart of it. Moving to Wellington Paddocks feels like a dream - being in a quiet cul-de-sac is perfect for us. We’ve already started getting to know our neighbours, and it’s lovely to feel a sense of community here.”
The couple chose the four-bedroom Huxford house type and were drawn to its spacious and versatile layout. Koran said: “We love the large hallway and the downstairs living space - it’s where we spend most of our time. We call the lounge the ‘Movie Room’ because we use it mainly to watch a film on Friday nights. The kitchen/dinner is where we really enjoy catching up with each other, and the dining area is perfect for hosting!”
Initially, Koran had reservations about purchasing a new build home. “I’ve built houses in the past, and I was dubious about new builds,” says Koran. “However, after viewing homes by various developers and ultimately discovering Wellington Paddocks, my perspective shifted. We fell in love right away. I did my research before putting in an offer, and I decided that a new build was the way we wanted to go.”
As first-time buyers, Koran and Natalie were pleased with their journey to homeownership with Taylor Wimpey. Koran shares: “My opinion of new builds has completely changed. The house has exceeded my expectations, and the aftercare has been great.”
Now two months into their new chapter at Wellington Paddocks, Koran and Natalie couldn’t be happier. Koran says: “With just 85 houses, it’s a small and perfectly sized development for us. Our experience so far has been excellent. We feel lucky and believe we’ve made the right decision.”
Local Investment
A house is more than just a home, it’s also about the community that surrounds it. That’s why we’re invested in building communities that support local businesses, provide much needed facilities for the area and bring people together. To support the growing community in Walmer, we’ll provide financial contributions towards improving facilities and services in the local area including health and social care, primary and secondary schools, community learning and outdoor sports facilities.

Our sustainable garden
Our South East team has teamed up with Deal Parochial C.E.P. School to create a sustainable garden at our Wellington Paddocks development in Deal.We challenged pupils to design an environmentally friendly garden for the new show home. The winning entry, from Riley Collins aged 10, includes several sustainable features, including bird boxes, flowers, bushes and shrubs, which will offer a variety of habitats for local wildlife and encourage biodiversity.
Riley said: “It’s great to have won and to see my garden come to life has been fantastic. I really enjoyed taking part and learning more about the importance of sustainability.”
Why we chose the Huxford
Our Customer Relations Manager Neil Lelean, his wife Caron and two sons, have found their dream family home in the spacious four bedroom Huxford.
Previously living in West Kingsdown, Neil didn’t have to look far to find the perfect home for him and his family. Neil explains: “As a Customer Relations Manager at Taylor Wimpey, I see first hand both the high quality of finish and all the energy efficient features that a Taylor Wimpey home provides. With all my previous homes I’ve had to spend a lot of time and money modernising them and all had ongoing maintenance, but that’s not the case with my Taylor Wimpey home - it's very low maintenance and it was a blank canvas for us to make our own.”
“We were also able to choose the fittings and fixtures in our kitchen and all flooring which was a huge bonus over buying second hand. Also, having a modern finish to the property saves a lot of time and expense from having to do it myself.”
Neil and his family fell in love with the design of the four bedroom Huxford. Neil comments: “We choose the Huxford because it has a good amount of living space downstairs, with a lovely warm and inviting hallway leading on to the large kitchen/dining area at the heart of the home. Upstairs there are four perfectly sized bedrooms - there’s plenty of room for the whole family.”
Neil and his family are now enjoying life in their new community at Royal Parade. Neil concludes: “Unlike many other new build developments, it’s very close to the city centre, only about a 15 min walk. This means my sons can be independent in getting into the city to use transport links.”
