We donated over £29,000 to good causes in Kent in 2024
We supported a variety of organisations including Amber, a charity supporting young people facing homelessness, who received a £22,000 donation with funds raised during our charity golf day.
Through our Community Chest initiative, which invites Kent residents to nominate local causes for donations, we contributed £1,000 each to Making Miracles and The Christmas Dinner Folkestone.
Tom Wells, a volunteer at The Christmas Dinner Folkestone, said: “A massive thank you to Taylor Wimpey for such a generous donation.”
Kelly Wells, CEO for Making Miracles, said: “We are so delighted to receive this donation in our tenth year having supported over 5000 families locally. It will help us to continue to offer our services and provide bereavement care for people in their darkest moments. Thank you so much.”
We also supported local community events, including the Herne Bay Festival and Folkestone Armed Forces Day, and sponsored sports teams including Herne Bay FC Women and Dartford FC, with a total of £1,000 in sponsorship. Local primary schools also benefitted from donations during World Book Day and Walk to School Month.
Jason Stokes, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South East, said: “From schools and sports teams, to community events and charities who provide vital support to people in need, giving back to the communities in which we build is at the heart of what we do. We’re pleased to have supported a range of groups in and around Kent in 2024 and we’re dedicated to doing more of the same in 2025.”
Residents celebrate the opening of three play areas
We are celebrating the opening of new play areas at three of our developments in Kent. The play areas, located at Oakapple Place in Barming, Wellington Paddocks in Deal and St Augustine’s Place in Hildenborough, have all been named by residents who were invited to a special event to mark their openings.
Anna Lee, a resident at St Augustine’s Place, named ‘Primrose Park’, ‘Paddocks Park’ was the winning suggestion by Jordan and Annabelle Moores of Wellington Paddocks and ‘Little Apples’ was the name put forward for Oakapple Place by Rebecca Morin.
Jordan and Annabelle Moores, said: "It’s exciting to have played a part in naming the new play area. We chose ‘Paddocks Park’ because we felt it was a memorable and fitting name, and we can’t wait to see families enjoying it."
Jason Stokes, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South East, said: “We are thrilled to officially open these new play areas, which have been designed with children and families in mind. It was wonderful to invite residents to get involved in the naming process, and we hope that residents, and the wider community, will enjoy using the space, getting outdoors and having fun for years to come!”
We host site safety talk at Reculver C of E Primary School
As construction progresses at the St Augustine’s Place development in Herne Bay, representatives from our team delivered a talk on the potential hazards of an active construction site and how to stay safe. Pupils also had the opportunity to ask questions and each class was given a copy of our activity book.Mrs Collins, Headteacher at Reculver Church of England Primary School, said: “We would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for speaking to our pupils on this important topic. It was a highly informative visit, and the children now have a much clearer understanding of the risks involved with construction sites and how to stay safe.”
Simon Strudwick, Regional Health and Safety Advisor at Taylor Wimpey, led the talk and said: “Children can be curious about activity on a building site so it’s vital that they understand the potential risks and how to keep themselves safe. The pupils at Reculver Primary School were brilliant and I hope our talk provided them with an important lesson in site safety.”
News and updates
As required by the planning permission for St Augustine's Place, we will be carrying out works on May Street to facilitate the installation of a new pedestrian and cycle link from our development to Reculver Road. This will provide a much needed connection to the primary school and Reculver village centre, and a safe, traffic free, route to local amenities which we hope will benefit the community for years to come.
In order to complete these essential works, it will be necessary to close the northern section of May Street for a period of around 2 months. The road closure will be in place from Monday 22nd July 2024 and all work will be carried out between 7.30am and 6pm Monday to Friday. Signage will be in place at the start of the closure and the plan below shows where the road will be closed for the duration of these works. We will do all we can to keep any disruption to a minimum and thank you for your cooperation.

The Plumdale is the perfect family home
Jodie, 26, her husband Jed, 30, and their 5-year-old son, Ronnie are settling into life in their new Plumdale home at St Augustine’s Place. The family were looking for a new home with space for them to grow and the four bedroom Plumdale ticked all the boxes. After living in Herne Bay for years Jodie and Jed wanted to stay close to their roots and St Augustine’s Place stole their hearts from the first visit.
Jodie said: “After exploring several new build developments, St Augustine’s Place caught our eye – and we loved the Plumdale housetype from the moment we saw it. It had the perfect layout, a great location within the development, and offered excellent value for money.” The Plumdale’s family-friendly layout features a bright and spacious kitchen with French doors leading to the garden, a large living room, and four bedrooms upstairs – including an en-suite in the main bedroom. Jodie said: “Our Plumdale home is a beautiful space. It’s bright, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. Upon entering, you're welcomed by a central staircase, with the kitchen to the left and the living room to the right. Both rooms are spacious and bathed in natural light.
“The open-plan kitchen, with its French doors to the garden, is a dream, while the living room is the perfect place to relax as a family. We love the cleverly designed downstairs "lootility" too, it makes efficient use of the space.
For the couple, choosing a new-build home was about starting fresh and creating a space they could truly make their own, without the hassle of renovations. Jodie explained: “With our busy lives, we needed a home ready to move into, and buying through Taylor Wimpey made the process a breeze. The sales executives were friendly, always ready to assist, and made time for visits. They answered all our questions, explained the process clearly, and ensured everything went smoothly.”
“Any small issues we have had were quickly and efficiently resolved. Overall, our experience with Taylor Wimpey has been exceptionally positive, making the buying and selling process seamless and stress-free. Their excellent customer service has been consistent from start to finish and continues even after we've moved in.”
With pre-selected upgrades and energy-efficient features, including solar panels, Jodie and Jed’s new home is not only beautiful but also more energy efficient than their previous property. Jodie says: “We’re excited about the energy savings, and the cash incentive we received helped make the move even better.”
Speaking about living at St. Augustine’s place, Jodie added: “The development has a lot to offer. Everyone we've met so far has been friendly, and the neighbourhood is starting to feel like a real community.”
As they settle into their new home, Jodie and Jed are thrilled to announce they are expecting their second child. Jodie shared: “We couldn’t be happier with our decision to move into St Augustine’s Place, and we’d recommend Taylor Wimpey to anyone looking for their next home.”
Sustainable garden competition
We teamed up with Reculver Primary School to create a sustainable garden at our St Augustine’s Place development, in Herne Bay. Our South East team challenged pupils to design a nature friendly garden for the new show home and the winning entry, from Maisie Seymour, aged 7, includes features such as a bird box and bug hotel, which will offer habitats for local wildlife. Maisie was invited to St Augustine’s Place to see her design brought to life. She said: “I really enjoyed taking part in the competition and it was great fun to see my design in real life. I hope visitors enjoy looking around and that lots of wildlife will enjoy it too.”

After a lengthy search, they discovered Taylor Wimpey’s St Augustine’s Place development in Herne Bay and found exactly what they were looking for.
Louise said: “I had my heart set on a new build property. Our old 3-bed house was expensive to heat, had no room for an office and everything needed to be replaced. As our son and his girlfriend both live with us, we really wanted the extra space.”
The family chose the four bedroom Manford house type. Louise says: “The layout of the ground floor is my favourite. I especially love the bay window in the lounge and the beautiful view from my home office but the whole family benefits from the open plan lounge through to the kitchen, which can be separated by double doors if needed. The four double bedrooms are also spacious and private, which is brilliant when you have older children living at home.”
All of the homes at St Augustine’s Place come with flooring included as standard which was ideal for Louise. She said: “We also chose our lovely carpets and flooring throughout, which provided a personal touch.”
Recognising the benefits of buying a new build home, Louise said: “Our new home is larger but it’s so much more energy efficient than our last. Even when it’s cold outside, we always feel warm and cosy as there are no draughts to cover up.”
The family took advantage of Taylor Wimpey’s Easymover scheme, through which Taylor Wimpey helped to secure a buyer for the family’s previous home. Louise explained: “The whole experience of buying with Taylor Wimpey was much less stressful than we’d experienced before. We picked the Manford home we wanted, signed up to the EasyMover scheme in August and we moved into our new home in December! The team even arranged viewings of our old house and liaised with our solicitors - nothing was too much trouble.”
“Our Sales Executives, Lisa and Emma, ensured our journey was smooth and kept everything on track while our Site Manager, Ash, helped us with any queries we had about the construction of our house.”
Now settled into their new home at St Augustine's Place, Louise and her family couldn't be happier. Louise concluded: “I know I’m biased but I think the development is beautiful and we have the most perfect house. Taylor Wimpey gave us so much support, they’ve been amazing throughout.”
