Edwinstowe is a large village and civil parish in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire, England. It is situated on the edge of Sherwood Forest, approximately 20 miles north of Nottingham and 7 miles west of Mansfield. The village is famously associated with the legend of Robin Hood and is close to the Major Oak, a historic tree in Sherwood Forest. Edwinstowe has a strong history and is home to the Grade I listed St Mary’s Church, which dates back to the 12th century and is reputed to be the site of Robin Hood and Maid Marian’s marriage. The village also features a variety of historic buildings, including Edwinstowe Hall and several traditional cottages.
