Sam Gedny, a Risk and Insurance Manager, was on the hunt for a new build home close to her family. The search led Sam to Taylor Wimpey's Deben Park at Brightwell Lakes development in Martlesham where she found her ideal four-bedroom home. “I moved from the Taylor Wimpey Violet Gardens development in Kirton, Suffolk. I picked Deben Park because I liked the surroundings. I purchased an Ayleford as it was a smaller property for me but gave me the space for my office as well as a spare room.” said Sam.
Talking about her new energy-efficient home at Deben Park at Brightwell Lakes, she also said, " I really liked that the property has air sourced heat pump, under floor heating and an EV charging point, and having triple glazed windows I hope will be a huge asset in the winter.
“Mine is also a unique property as it is the only one to trial the heat tank in a room in the loft, this has given me extra storage in the upstairs cupboard which I wouldn’t have had with another plot and is great."
Sam is no stranger to the Taylor Wimpey lifestyle, she commented: “My last three properties have been new builds, two of them being Taylor Wimpey. I like the convenience of everything being done before I move in and not having to worry about anything going wrong on day one as I know the Taylor Wimpey site team would sort it out for me.”
She added: “The sales team were fantastic and kept me updated. I knew I could call them or pop in at any time to talk to them about the buying journey. I would like to give a special mention to Katie and Simon in the Sales Office who go out of their way to make you feel welcome & that nothing is too much trouble.”
The local area was a huge selling point for Sam: “I only wanted the Deben Park at Brightwell Lakes area because of the woods which makes it feel as though you are out in the countryside, even though you’re just three minutes away from the main A12 road. I’m looking forward to other paths being available for my dog walks and also the park area as they love to have a little run around and play.”
Now settled into her new Taylor Wimpey home, Sam couldn’t be happier with her decision. “It's the peace and quiet, I know not everyone has moved in yet but it's still nice to come home to relax and de-stress.”
Sam was able to partake in Taylor Wimpey’s Mortgage Contribution Scheme, where they offer to contribute up to £25,000 towards your mortgage repayments on a new home. This offer is available at selected developments and on selected homes.
Deben Park at Brightwell Lakes currently has a selection of four to five-bedroom sustainable homes available from £410,000, built to modern energy-efficient standards, offering smart heating, insulation and lower emissions.
Based close to Ipswich with Newbourne Springs and Walk Farm Woods on your doorstep, Deben Park at Brightwell Lakes is the perfect place to call home for those nature-loving families. This peaceful village is well connected to nearby towns and cities, including those who commute to London.

Couple finds perfect family home with Taylor Wimpey
After years of renting, first-time buyers Tiago Martins and Andreia Antunes, a couple in their 30s, decided it was time to invest in a property they could call their own.
Their search led them to Taylor Wimpey's Deben Park development in Martlesham where they found their perfect first home."The desire to have a stable home to raise a family motivated our transition from renting to buying." said Tiago.
"We chose this development because it is close to our previous house. It’s allowed us to stay in the area we love and continue building the community roots we've established here," Andreia said.
She also said, "We opted for the Aynesdale, which is a 3-bedroom detached house, which gave us a lot more privacy and space than our previous home. The layout offers a good amount of room to accommodate our growing family, as well as the flexibility to create a home office."
The couple has several favourite features in their new home. Tiago stated, "We absolutely love our kitchen. As keen cooks, we spend a lot of time preparing meals. The spacious, modern design with state-of-the-art appliances makes cooking both convenient and enjoyable – it's truly the heart of our home."
"The underfloor heating is another feature we really like, it gives consistent warmth throughout the house and creates such a comfortable living environment."
The buying process with Taylor Wimpey was smooth from start to finish. "Their attractive incentives, like the deposit top-up scheme, made the financial process much more manageable for us. Everything was straightforward, professional, and supportive throughout."
Now settled into their new Taylor Wimpey home, the couple couldn't be happier with their decision. Tiago said, "The well-planned development, with its thoughtfully designed spaces, has given us exactly what we were looking for – a perfect place to call home."

This award honours excellence in site management and build quality, placing Ben in the top 5% of site managers in the UK. Local investment
A home is more than just a house, it’s also about the community that surrounds it. And that’s why we’re invested in building communities that support local businesses, provide much needed facilities for the area and bring people together.
To support the growing community in Martlesham, we have contributed....

Woodbridge Primary School is creating a buzz
We have teamed up with Woodbridge Primary School to help name our new beehive while encouraging sustainable living. The winning design, named Waggle Bop has been created into a sign and installed next to the beehive at the development.
Brightwell Lakes is showcasing Taylor Wimpey’s commitment to improving biodiversity and encouraging nature throughout their developments with their latest feature, Waggle Bop beehive. This competition allowed the children to get in touch with their creativity and learn about biodiversity.
Chantelle Newton, Year One Teacher and Art and DT Lead at Woodbridge Primary School, said: “We are so proud of our Year 1 class, who worked so hard to create Waggle Bop together. The children were absolutely delighted to take part, and even more excited to be announced as winners! Thank you so much to the team at Taylor Wimpey for choosing Waggle Bop.”
Supporting Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance
We have awarded £500 to Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance after being announced as the winners of our recent Community Chest competition.
Residents from in and around Ipswich were invited to nominate local, worthy recipients for a £500 prize, and after considering all entries, we proudly selected Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance.
Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance is a dedicated organisation working hard to bring positive change to those diagnosed with dementia and their families within Ipswich and the surrounding areas. Volunteers of the charity deliver local therapeutic weekly groups to support people with any level of cognitive decline or diagnosis. The charity also supports the community further by delivering information to local employers, organisations or groups on how to become a more dementia friendly environment.
Nicola Bradford, Chair of Trustees for Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance, said: “The charity is wholly reliant on donations from organisations, businesses and local people to provide our weekly Memory Cafe sessions. This donation will contribute to the costs of the trained dementia practitioner running the weekly sessions across Ipswich, our volunteer training and the hiring costs of the venues.
“Our Memory Cafe sessions provide both a welcoming and friendly active therapy session for those living with dementia, and we wouldn’t be able to continue to host these in Ipswich without these types of donations. We can’t thank Taylor Wimpey East Anglia enough for naming us the winners of their Community Chest competition.”
We donated £500 to Friends of St Mary's School
We donated £500 towards Friends of St Mary's Primary School in Woodbridge.
The school have used this donation to have bright, colourful markings added to the playground.
Playground markings are a fantastic way to encourage physical activity and improve social skills while supporting cognitive and educational development, and creating a more inclusive and safe play environment for all children.
We hope the pupils at Friends of St Mary's School enjoy their new playground markings!
We donated £1,000 to support Birchwood Primary School’s Zen Den
We gave Birchwood Primary School a helping hand by donating £1,000 to support the creation of their bespoke Zen Den.
The Zen Den is a standalone building on the school premises set up by Birchwood Primary School’s Parent, Teachers & Friends Association (PTFA).
It provides a welcoming, safe space for their pupils who are in need of support from trusted and trained adults.
To mark the grand opening of the project, we joined Cllr Mark Packard to unveil the new Zen Den.
Olivia Peters, Head of Sales at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia said: “This impactful donation is just one of the ways we’re contributing to the local community. We’re proud to see the Zen Den officially launch at Birchwood Primary School and hope the children continue to use it to work, talk and play in many years to come.”
