Welcome to Martlesham
Join a brand-new community at Brightwell LakesBuyer settles down close to her family in her third Taylor Wimpey home
Sam Gedny, a Risk and Insurance Manager, was on the hunt for a new build home close to her family. The search led Sam to Taylor Wimpey's Brightwell Lakes development in Martlesham where she found her ideal four-bedroom home. “I moved from the Taylor Wimpey Violet Gardens development in Kirton, Suffolk. I picked Brightwell Lakes because I liked the surroundings. I purchased an Ayleford as it was a smaller property for me but gave me the space for my office as well as a spare room.” said Sam.
Talking about her new energy-efficient home at Brightwell Lakes, she also said, " I really liked that the property has air sourced heat pump, under floor heating and an EV charging point, and having triple glazed windows I hope will be a huge asset in the winter.
“Mine is also a unique property as it is the only one to trial the heat tank in a room in the loft, this has given me extra storage in the upstairs cupboard which I wouldn’t have had with another plot and is great."
Sam is no stranger to the Taylor Wimpey lifestyle, she commented: “My last three properties have been new builds, two of them being Taylor Wimpey. I like the convenience of everything being done before I move in and not having to worry about anything going wrong on day one as I know the Taylor Wimpey site team would sort it out for me.”
She added: “The sales team were fantastic and kept me updated. I knew I could call them or pop in at any time to talk to them about the buying journey. I would like to give a special mention to Katie and Simon in the Sales Office who go out of their way to make you feel welcome & that nothing is too much trouble.”
The local area was a huge selling point for Sam: “I only wanted the Brightwell Lakes area because of the woods which makes it feel as though you are out in the countryside, even though you’re just three minutes away from the main A12 road. I’m looking forward to other paths being available for my dog walks and also the park area as they love to have a little run around and play.”
Now settled into her new Taylor Wimpey home, Sam couldn’t be happier with her decision. “It's the peace and quiet, I know not everyone has moved in yet but it's still nice to come home to relax and de-stress.”
Sam was able to partake in Taylor Wimpey’s Mortgage Contribution Scheme, where they offer to contribute up to £25,000 towards your mortgage repayments on a new home. This offer is available at selected developments and on selected homes.
Brightwell Lakes is home to Deben Park and Auster Place developments. Currently, Brightwell Lakes has a selection of two to four-bedroom to five-bedroom sustainable homes available, built to modern energy-efficient standards, offering smart heating, insulation and lower emissions.

The first couple to make their move to our Brightwell Lakes development
Neil and Karen are celebrating after being the first customers to move into Deben Park at Brightwell Lakes.

Neil and Karen’s home buying journey involved selling each of their homes to purchase their dream property on the development. Neil explained: “We viewed a Taylor Wimpey home on another development two years ago and we couldn’t stop thinking about it. We were informed by the team that a new community named Brightwell Lakes was going to be built, and we knew we had to get our hands on one of them! My partner Karen sold her house last Christmas, then I used the Easymover scheme to sell my home and complete the process.”
The Easymover scheme allows customers to provisionally reserve their new Taylor Wimpey property while the team helps to manage the sale of their old home. Neil said: “The Easymover scheme was fantastic and really helped me with selling my old home - it was such a huge help, we might not have been able to buy our home at Brightwell Lakes without the scheme.”
The couple purchased the four-bedroom The Waysdale for comfort and convenience, Karen said: “We opted for The Waysdale because we needed four double bedrooms for our children. The rooms are perfect for us, we viewed other homes from different housing developers and they weren’t as big so this is great for us as they’re so spacious and bright.”
Neil added: “We chose a Taylor Wimpey home as it was recommended to us. I really wanted a new build as I’m slightly older now, and I wanted something that requires minimal maintenance and very little DIY jobs. Now with our new home, Karen and I don’t need to worry about renovating it, we can just enjoy living in it.”
The couple were ecstatic to be the first customers to move into Brightwell Lakes, Karen said: “When we found out we were the first people to move to the development it was so unexpected. We were so excited to be the first and only residents, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet, and it’s something special to tell our friends and family.”

Reflecting on their move, Karen said: “We’re really enjoying life in our new home! Now we’re all under one roof, it’s great. Everyone has their own space and it’s perfect for having our friends visit as there’s so much space. Our favourite features are the kitchen-diner and driveway, as we’ve never had these before. We love the development as it’s peaceful and there’s lots of green open spaces for leisurely walks.”
Neil adds: “We’re so impressed with Taylor Wimpey that we’ve recommended them to our family and friends who are home-hunting, including my son, who is keen to buy. The service we’ve received from the team has been exceptional, Simon, the sales executive, has been incredibly helpful, with excellent communication from start to finish. Thank you to Taylor Wimpey for making our dream come true!”

Local investment
A home is more than just a house, it’s also about the community that surrounds it. And that’s why we’re invested in building communities that support local businesses, provide much needed facilities for the area and bring people together.
To support the growing community in Martlesham, we are committed to investing the below amount.

Woodbridge Primary School is creating a buzz
We have teamed up with Woodbridge Primary School to help name our new beehive while encouraging sustainable living. The winning design, named Waggle Bop has been created into a sign and installed next to the beehive at the development.
Brightwell Lakes is showcasing Taylor Wimpey’s commitment to improving biodiversity and encouraging nature throughout their developments with their latest feature, Waggle Bop beehive. This competition allowed the children to get in touch with their creativity and learn about biodiversity.
Chantelle Newton, Year One Teacher and Art and DT Lead at Woodbridge Primary School, said: “We are so proud of our Year 1 class, who worked so hard to create Waggle Bop together. The children were absolutely delighted to take part, and even more excited to be announced as winners! Thank you so much to the team at Taylor Wimpey for choosing Waggle Bop.”
Supporting Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance
We have awarded £500 to Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance after being announced as the winners of our recent Community Chest competition.
Residents from in and around Ipswich were invited to nominate local, worthy recipients for a £500 prize, and after considering all entries, we proudly selected Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance.
Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance is a dedicated organisation working hard to bring positive change to those diagnosed with dementia and their families within Ipswich and the surrounding areas. Volunteers of the charity deliver local therapeutic weekly groups to support people with any level of cognitive decline or diagnosis. The charity also supports the community further by delivering information to local employers, organisations or groups on how to become a more dementia friendly environment.
Nicola Bradford, Chair of Trustees for Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance, said: “The charity is wholly reliant on donations from organisations, businesses and local people to provide our weekly Memory Cafe sessions. This donation will contribute to the costs of the trained dementia practitioner running the weekly sessions across Ipswich, our volunteer training and the hiring costs of the venues.
“Our Memory Cafe sessions provide both a welcoming and friendly active therapy session for those living with dementia, and we wouldn’t be able to continue to host these in Ipswich without these types of donations. We can’t thank Taylor Wimpey East Anglia enough for naming us the winners of their Community Chest competition.”
We donated £1,000 to support Birchwood Primary School’s Zen Den
We gave Birchwood Primary School a helping hand by donating £1,000 to support the creation of their bespoke Zen Den.
The Zen Den is a standalone building on the school premises set up by Birchwood Primary School’s Parent, Teachers & Friends Association (PTFA).
It provides a welcoming, safe space for their pupils who are in need of support from trusted and trained adults.
To mark the grand opening of the project, we joined Cllr Mark Packard to unveil the new Zen Den.
Olivia Peters, Head of Sales at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia said: “This impactful donation is just one of the ways we’re contributing to the local community. We’re proud to see the Zen Den officially launch at Birchwood Primary School and hope the children continue to use it to work, talk and play in many years to come.”
