Welcome to Maidenhill
There is a real sense of community at Castle Gate, MaidenhillBuilt by an award winner
Last year’s NHBC UK Supreme Winner, David McClure has kicked off this year’s competition in style and is celebrating after winning a Pride in the Job 2025 Quality Award and a Seal of Excellence award from the National House-Building Council (NHBC) in this year’s competition, recognising his continued outstanding work at Castle Gate, Maidenhill in East Renfrewshire.
The award honours excellence in site management and build quality, placing David McClure in the top 5% of site managers in the UK.
Now in its 45th year and widely considered the ‘Oscars’ of the house-building industry, Pride in the Job celebrates site managers’ dedication to raising standards in house building, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence.
Judging is rigorous and thousands of inspections have taken place to determine the 450 award winners from a field of circa 8,200 sites.

David McClure, Senior Site Manager at Castle Gate, said: “Following the success of last year and picking up the top UK NHBC award, it’s an honour to once again receive a Quality Award from the NHBC in this year’s competition. The whole team at Castle Gate is passionate about building high quality homes and I’m delighted that our efforts continue to be recognised. For me, being consistently acknowledged as one of the top site managers not only in the local area, but across the UK, is a true career highlight and something I’m extremely proud of.”
Brian Henderson, Production Director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We have always been committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service, and our continued recognition as an NHBC award-winning homebuilder reflects that dedication. This award is thoroughly deserved, and we’re incredibly proud of David McClure and the team at Castle Gate.”
Commenting on the awards, Steve Wood, CEO at NHBC said: “Congratulations to David McClure who continues to demonstrate the dedication, passion and leadership skills necessary to deliver new homes to exacting construction quality standards.
“Thousands of outstanding site managers have made their mark on the industry in the 45 years Pride in the Job has been running. This continued focus on excellence is vital to support the Government’s 1.5 million new homes target and to ensure that all housing is built to the quality owners and occupiers should expect.”

“We’ve always been the DIY type - our previous homes in Aberdeen and Glasgow were full of weekend projects and renovation plans. So, when it was
time to move back to Glasgow to be closer to family, we knew we wanted something different. With two young children, Erin and Finn, we simply didn’t have the time or energy for another fixer-upper. Courtney was never keen on new builds and convincing her to even visit a development was a challenge. I remember seeing the plans for Maidenhill years ago and saying, ‘We’ll live there one day.’ She wouldn’t even entertain the idea. But I knew if I could just get her to Castle Gate, she’d see what I saw - and she did. We both fell in love with the Buchanan the moment we walked in.
Since it was a stock home, we could see the layout and specifications upfront, which made a massive difference to us. Everything had already been chosen, and honestly, we loved the finishes - some of which we might not have picked ourselves or even budgeted for. We were also impressed with the high ceilings in every room downstairs, which gave everything a lighter, open feel that we would have associated with an older property, with all the benefits of being new.

Everything was great, and the process was incredibly easy. Buying from a distance while we still lived in Aberdeen could have been stressful, but Elaine, our sales executive, made the process seamless and straightforward. She was flexible, informative, and even involved our daughter Erin in the journey. Erin loved exploring the house and choosing
her bedroom - she even tried to negotiate a ‘two for one’ deal with Elaine so her granny could maybe move in next door! Finn is just thrilled to have a big trampoline in the garden, and Erin’s already made lots of friends.

We considered other builders, but their timelines didn’t work with ours. Taylor Wimpey’s Buchanan ticked every box. We absolutely love the layout - it really works for our family. The energy efficiency is fantastic - we’ve already noticed the difference - and having solar panels included was a huge bonus. The aftercare has been brilliant too. The team is friendly, responsive, and even arranged for a painter to come back after we moved in, just in case we’d scuffed any walls. It’s those thoughtful touches that really make you feel looked after.
The development is so peaceful - you wouldn’t know there’s still construction happening. You can tell it's built by an NHBC Supreme winner; the quality is obvious when you walk around.
Buying a new home is night and day compared to buying a secondhand property. There’s no stress, no surprises - just a smooth, exciting journey. When we saw the bow on the door of our new house, it truly felt like home. Our kids now go to Maidenhill Primary, and we’ve settled in beautifully. We even had friends already living here, which helped us feel at home quickly.
If you’re considering a move, our advice is simple: visit the development, talk to the sales team, and see it for yourself. If I hadn’t encouraged Courtney to take that first step, we wouldn’t be here today - and we couldn’t be happier.”
This is an incentivised testimonial.
