We complete Aldo House kitchen transformation

Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire has recently completed a kitchen refurbishment at Centrepoint’s Aldo House in Bradford as part of its ongoing support for the charity.

Providing its services and expertise pro-bono, the Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire team worked on a four-week transformational refurbishment project which saw Aldo House’s kitchen receive a modern facelift - providing the charity with a welcome boost.

Based in Bradford, Aldo House therapeutic service supports young people aged 16-18 who have left the care system.

As part of its charitable contribution, Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire has saved Aldo House £22,500 with the help of suppliers and contractors, which is equivalent to Centrepoint providing 500 mental health counselling sessions, supporting young people to overcome past traumas and empowering them to manage their own mental health for a sustainable and independent future.

Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire worked alongside principal contractor Wet N Warm as well as Symphony Kitchens, Designer Contracts, Crown Paint and a number of others to get the job done.

Work included the removal of the old kitchen and installation of a modern new one as well as utility units with appliances, new electrical and plumbing works, a new ceiling, new Kitchenette units, replacement flooring in several locations and a complementary projector and screen fitted in the lounge, to be used as a training aid for young residents.

Andrew Welton, project coordinator and part of Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire’s Charity Committee, commented: “We have supported Centrepoint as our charity partner for the last two years and we wanted to help out specifically in the Yorkshire region. We decided to take on the challenge of refurbishing a building in Braford that Centrepoint own. Aldo House is currently home to seven people who will benefit from the new changes.”

“We are very grateful to our suppliers and contractors who helped out, kindly donating the kitchen and flooring free of charge and materials and labour at discounted rates. We hope that the young people and staff members at Aldo House can enjoy their brand-new facilities for years to come.”

“The kitchen has become a hub for the young people to enjoy and has inspired new cooking sessions, it has been particularly important during periods of lockdown that we offer safe spaces which reflects Centrepoint’s commitment to creating psychologically informed environments for the vulnerable young people we support.

“We are incredibly grateful for the refurbishment work by Taylor Wimpey, their support helps us to deliver the most effective, practical, and emotional support to homeless young people who need us now more than ever.”
