Farnham Sea Cadets are looking forward to beginning renovation on their Unit building following a £1,200 donation from our West London team.
The building, which is used for indoor activities by both the sea cadets and other community groups, has been in desperate need of a new roof and refurbishment, and the group hopes that this will be well underway by the time they can get back together.
The Farnham Sea Cadets offer life-changing skills to those between the ages of 10 and 18, with hundreds of local young people benefiting from vocational qualifications and social skills thanks to their involvement.
As the group had to close its doors due to the pandemic, leaders decided it was the perfect time to make the Unit building a safer and more up to date place for activities to commence once it can reopen. The donation will go towards the repair and redecoration of the flooring, lighting and toilet facilities.
Stephen Samuel, Acting Chair at the Farnham Sea Cadets, said: “The unit building is not only important to the Sea Cadets, but also to all the other groups who use it. We have been trying for a couple of years to raise a large amount of money in order to replace the severely leaking roof which is causing damage to the fabric of the building itself. This remains our major project as the leaks get worse by the day. Further funds being raised will then go towards refurbishment and modernisation.”
