In response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing war, the government launched the Homes for Ukraine scheme in March 2022 and under the initiative, South Gloucestershire Council has supported more than 400 individuals who have been sponsored by residents in the area. Some of these individuals are now choosing to move into independent living, whilst others will need additional help to find temporary accommodation when their sponsorship arrangements come to an end.

Keith Simmons, Managing Director at Taylor Wimpey Bristol said: “It’s so important to feel safe and secure in the place you call home and we wanted to play our part in supporting the council’s Homes for Ukraine scheme.

“After facing the unimaginable difficulties of leaving their home country behind, we are really hopeful that having this house to move into will mark a new beginning for the people supported through Homes for Ukraine, who have been through so much.”

Councillor Toby Savage, Leader of South Gloucestershire Council, said: “We are delighted that Taylor Wimpey is supporting our Homes for Ukraine programme by providing this home in Emersons Green.

“The programme is a hugely important initiative which offers vital help for people displaced by the invasion and we would like to thank the Taylor Wimpey team for lending their support.”
