Our Calderwood Community Chest Winners Revealed

We recently launched our Community Chest project on social media asking the local community across West Lothian to nominate good causes operating near our Calderwood development to share in our Community Chest of £750.

The campaign generated over 40 nominations and three local charities and we selected three great community groups to share the fund with each receiving a £250 boost to their bank accounts.

Each group makes a real difference to the local community across West Lothian, and the following are delighted to have received £250:

· Diversified – Scotland’s first autistic and neurodivergent youth-led charity

· Neil’s Hugs Foundation – Help and support for families and friends affected by suicide

· West Lothian Litter Pickers – A voluntary group aiming to clean up West Lothian

Diversified

Nicole from Diversified said: “This financial boost from Taylor Wimpey will go towards providing our summer holiday club that will be supporting over 50 young people with a variety of activities to keep them busy and engaged throughout the holidays.  We are a very small charity, which was set up by my daughter Kaydi in 2021, so we are just really getting established. It’s lovely that local people in West Lothian have heard about the work that we do and put us forward to receive a share of Taylor Wimpey’s Calderwood Community Chest.”

Neil's Hugs Foundation

The donation is also welcomed by Donna Paterson Harvie, Founder of Neil’s Hugs Foundation, as she adds: “This donation from Taylor Wimpey will help towards our work in the community providing ongoing support for those struggling to cope when their life has been affected by the attempted or completed suicide of a loved one or people struggling with mental ill health. We believe early intervention is key to suicide reduction so working with vulnerable groups is important to us and this donation will help us to continue that work. For us to be nominated by members of the local community makes this donation incredibly special. We would like to thank everyone who suggested us for the donation and for Taylor Wimpey who are helping us to help others.”

West Lothian Litter Pickers

Jason Wilcox from West Lothian Litter Pickers concludes: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received a share of this local donation from Taylor Wimpey which we will use to provide our ever-growing band of volunteers with the equipment and support they need to keep the local area tidy. Being nominated by members of our own community shows that local people do really notice the difference that we make.”
