Second time buyers upgrade to dream family home at Gillingham Lakes

Dorset couple James Bolwell, 35, and Sophie Bolwell, 36, moved into their new family home at Gillingham Lakes in December.

The right fit for a young family

The couple were looking to upsize from their two-bedroom home in Ferndown, Dorset, after the birth of their son in 2021. They both primarily work from home, so needed the space to work.

The couple decided that opting for a new build would be more convenient for a young family.

James said: “We both agreed that after having a newborn and with the pressure of our roles, that buying a new-build home, where everything except for painting and decoration is done for you, was for the best.

James and Sophie opted for a Manford house type due to its layout and generous size.

James said: “It has four double bedrooms and a study downstairs, so offered all the space we needed.

“Gillingham Lakes has exceeded all our expectations and we really like it here. The area offers a lot of local produce from the nearby farm, which is within walking distance from the development. The country walks that are accessible from the development have been a great find as well.

“We are very happy we made the move. The house, area and the community that is developing here are great. We have had hardly any snagging issues and that shows the quality of the homes that Taylor Wimpey builds.

“Everyone I have made friends with and spoken to on our development are all extremely happy with buying a Taylor Wimpey home here too - which is a lovely environment to live in.”
