Find out what customers think about Orchard GroveA new chapter for young readers at Orchard Grove School
We have donated a £250 voucher to Orchard Grove School to mark World Book Day and celebrate the 2026 National Year of Reading, helping the school purchase new books and to fund a reader to come to the school for the day.The donation will benefit pupils at the school, located close to our Orchard Grove development in Taunton, and further strengthens links between the housebuilder and the local community.
With 2026 recognised nationally as the Year of Reading, a campaign encouraging reading for pleasure among children and young people, the funding will enable teachers to expand the school’s collection of age-appropriate books and literacy materials. The new resources will support pupils’ reading development, inspire a love of storytelling and enhance learning in the classroom.
Emma Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “We’re pleased to support Orchard Grove as it celebrates World Book Day and the National Year of Reading. Encouraging children to develop a love of reading is so important, and we hope this donation helps provide resources that will support pupils both now and in the future.”
We encourage pupil creativity in speed sign design competition
The pupils were asked to apply their creative minds to design a speed sign that would encourage both visitors and homeowners to keep their driving speed down and ensure the streets on the development stay as safe as possible. The winners each received gift cards as prizes for their submissions and were recently invited to Orchard Grove to see the winning design installed and displayed around the development.
Clare Strange, Business Manager at Orchard Grove Primary School, said: “We’re thankful to Taylor Wimpey for giving our pupils such an amazing opportunity. The design competition provided our pupils with an incredible opportunity and the chance to think outside the box creatively.”
Emma Smith, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “Our speed sign design competition with Orchard Grove Primary School was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the primary school. We truly enjoyed all the submissions we received and were moved to hear of students' enthusiasm for the competition.”
We supported Taunton Carnival 2025
The 58th annual Taunton Carnival takes place on Saturday 18th October and is set to include over 50 items in the illuminated procession. This year’s procession is expected to start at 7pm from Tangier Way and will make its way along Wood Street, Bridge Street, North Street, Fore Street, East Street, and continuing over East Reach before finishing on Chritchard Way at approximately 9.15pm.
The donation from the housebuilder will be dedicated to the general running and maintenance of the event.
Callum Perrin, Chairman and Director of the Taunton Carnival Committee, said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting our 58th Annual Taunton Carnival Parade. Taunton Carnival is such a long-standing event in our community and has been illuminating our streets for almost 60 years.
“We’re expecting a huge turnout again this year and want to thank Taylor Wimpey for its support, which will help us to provide a spectacular event for our community and all those attending. We hope to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities and organisations in the community this year.”
Emma Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “Taunton Carnival is such an important event that is loved by residents of the town, and we’re pleased that we could offer our support to the organising committee.
“We wish the Taunton Carnival Committee the very best of luck and we can’t wait to hear of the parades success.”
We bring festive cheer to Orchard Grove Primary School
We have donated £500 to support festive celebrations at Orchard Grove Primary School, helping to fund a range of activities and resources for pupils during the Christmas period.
The contribution enabled the school to organise a memorable programme of events, including a Christmas Fair, class parties and nativity performances, bringing pupils, staff and families together in celebration. The funding also supported the purchase of prizes for the Christmas Fair, giving children the opportunity to take part and win festive rewards.
As part of the celebrations, every child received a book to take home, alongside Santa hats and decorations for the Christmas lunch. A special visit from Santa, complete with inflatable costumes, added to the excitement and helped create a fun and engaging atmosphere for pupils.
Emma Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “We’re delighted to support the school’s Christmas celebrations. It’s wonderful to see the community come together, and we’re pleased to help create special experiences and lasting memories for the children.”
