2026 nominations now open!
We are excited to welcome nominations for our 2026 Calderwood Community Promise, continuing our commitment to supporting charities and community organisations across West Lothian as part of our long standing role in delivering the Calderwood masterplan in East Calder.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural programme which supported three local groups through individual donations of £1,000—the 2026 Calderwood Community Promise will once again offer meaningful support to organisations making a positive difference in the Calderwood and East Calder communities.
For 2026, we will again select three charities or community organisations, ensuring a wide range of groups benefit from the initiative over the full duration of the programme.
To be eligible, applicants must operate within the West Lothian Council area and demonstrate a clear positive impact on the Calderwood and East Calder communities.
T&Cs apply:
The 'Calderwood Community Promise' aims to support 10 charities or community organisations from 2025 to 2027, offering either:-
· A financial donation of up to £1,000.
· A combination of up to £500 and up to three staff members for one day of volunteering.
· A volunteer task force of up to five staff members for one day.
To be eligible, charities or organisations must operate within the West Lothian Council Authority Area or benefit the Calderwood community, have appropriate safeguarding and insurance in place if volunteering is involved. Applications will open for one month annually (dates will be advertised via social media and the Taylor Wimpey Calderwood website). Only one application per charity or community organisation is permitted per year. In 2025, we selected three community organisations; this year, we will select three, and finally, in 2027, we will choose four. Each year, judging will be conducted by Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s Marketing Executive and Sales Manager. The judging for 2026 will take place after the closing date of 3rd May 2026. Taylor Wimpey East Scotland reserves the right to determine the amount and type of support offered, which may be less than the stated maximums, and our decision is final. Successful charities or community organisations for 2026 will be notified by 1st June 2026. If chosen, your charity or community organisation agrees to use the support as outlined in your application, understands that we will confirm the specific payment date for any financial donation directly, and payments may, in some instances, occur in the following calendar year. Your charity or organisation also allow us to use your details in marketing materials, take part in photography opportunities following the support, and assist in arranging any agreed volunteering. Finally, Taylor Wimpey East Scotland reserves the right to disqualify any application that is incomplete, misleading, ineligible or to withdraw support if terms are breached or where activities conflict with our values. Personal data will be used solely for this initiative as per our Privacy Policy.
Our 2025 winners
We were delighted to announce the official opening of our beautifully designed show homes at Calderwood, East Calder.
To mark the occasion, we are so proud to announce the first three recipients of the Calderwood Community Promise initiative, each receiving a £1,000 donation in recognition of their important contributions to the local area. The Calderwood Community Promise is a commitment to supporting organisations and projects that enrich the lives of people in East Calder and its surroundings. The first three recipients were:
Breast Friends and Family
Supporting breast cancer patients at St John’s Hospital, this charity provides comfort and care through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery - offering the little things that make a big difference, often before patients even realise they need them.
The Community Listening Project
A warm and welcoming space for all to share and spend time together, this initiative addresses the challenges of isolation in a rapidly expanding community. From a twice-weekly hub to a craft club, parent support groups, and fun community days, the project offers something for everyone
Elevate Acro Gymnastics Club
With nearly 300 gymnasts ranging from preschoolers to teens, Elevate Acro offers classes across six locations in West Lothian and beyond. Their competitive gymnasts travel across the UK representing Scotland, and the club proudly includes two British Champions. As a growing start-up, they are actively seeking a permanent home in West Lothian.
We are committing up to £10,000 over the 2025, 2026 and 2027, alongside staff volunteers, to support ten local charities and community organisations that have a significant impact on the local community.
The initiative will offer financial assistance in the form of either a full donation of up to £1,000, a combination of up to £500 and one day of volunteering with up to three staff members, or a single volunteer task force of up to five staff members for a day. Terms and conditions apply and can be found on the application form.
Road Safety Week
As part of Road Safety Week in November 2025, we challenged Primary 6 pupils at Calderwood Primary School to design road signs encouraging drivers to drive safely throughout our development.
The six winning designs - created by Dron Dutta, Hannah, Chloe, Felicity, Poppy and Krishanti - have been recreated as signs installed near the entrance to its latest development of new homes in Calderwood. Each of the winners also received a £50 book token.
Working with Calderwood Primary School to convey such an important message has been a great opportunity to connect with the growing community at Calderwood in East Calder.

Local investment
A home is more than just a house, it’s also about the community that surrounds it. And that’s why we invest in building communities that support local businesses, improve facilities in the area and help bring people together.

Baxter loves this new home
When first-time buyers Shannon Riley and Caitlin Macintyre decided to take their first step on to the property ladder, they loved the range of benefits that buying a new home gave them.
With Shannon originally from Edinburgh and Caitlin from Glasgow, Calderwood was the ideal choice from a location perspective as Shannon explains: “We’ve been watching Calderwood develop as we’ve driven past regularly almost since construction started, so when we decided to buy a new home together it was the first location we considered. It’s so handy being almost the same distance to each of our families and friends, plus Calderwood really does have a sense of its own – it’s a lovely place that’s growing here on the outskirts of East Calder.
The couple bought the practical and stylish Baxter three bedroom semi-detached home, which just simply ticked all of their boxes as Caitlin adds: “We just fell in love with the layout of the Baxter. We have always wanted a dog and we felt this layout would be so practical if we decided to go for it. In fact, it’s so practical that we now have a little Cavapoo, so really, we bought it for him, so he had to be called Baxter!".
The couple have really enjoyed their buying experience with Taylor Wimpey, and it’s been a stress-free and easy journey as Shannon adds: “We can’t fault the service that we’ve had from the sales team and the construction team on-site. Everything has been so smooth".
This is an incentivised testimonial.
