Celebrating our award winning site manager
Lee Twizell is celebrating his second Pride in the Job 2025 Quality Award win from the National House-Building Council (NHBC).
Now in its 45th year, the Pride in the Job Quality Awards have become the benchmark for exceptional site managers and are awarded following a rigorous judging process. Thousands of inspections have taken place to determine this year’s 450 winners from a field of more than 8,000 sites. Lee’s win puts him in the top 5% of UK site managers.
Lee Twizell, Site Manager at Taylor Wimpey’s Herrington View development, said: “I’m delighted to have been recognised as one of the UK’s top site managers. I’m surrounded by a fantastic team and we’re all dedicated to building homes of the highest quality for our customers. This award is testament to our hard work and I’m delighted our commitment has been recognised.”

Supporting the local community
£500 donation to Sunderland Community Soup KitchenWe donated £500 to Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen to allow them to continue their support to tackle hunger and poverty in the area. The Sunderland-based charity is made up of a group of volunteers who provide meals for people in need across the city.
New Penshaw Academy School Safety Talk
Pupils of New Penshaw Academy, in Sunderland, have learnt some important lessons in health and safety thanks to a visit from members of our North East team. With construction underway at our Herrington View development, Site Manager, Lee Twizell, and Regional Health and Safety Executive, Jennifer Noakes, held sessions with pupils in each year group to discuss the importance of site safety. During these talks, pupils from the nursery right up to Year 6 heard all about the importance of health and safety, as well as how it feeds into the house building process. Pupils were also gifted a copy of Taylor Wimpey’s very own activity book to take away with them.
Alison and Brian share their home buying journey experience
Retirees, Alison Glover (68) and her husband, Brian Glover (77), wanted to downsize from their converted Methodist chapel home in Great Lumley to find a home that required lower maintenance.
When visiting Herrington View for the first time, Alison and Brian liked the fact that it features a variety of different home designs. Commenting on their initial thoughts of the development, Alison said: “We liked the layout of the development and thought the house sizes were good.”
Looking for a home that was smaller than their previous one and with a more manageable garden, the couple found the four bedroom Manford house type met all of their needs.
Commenting on their sales experience, Alison said: “The purchasing process was very straightforward and the sales team were very helpful. They were very welcoming and helped with any questions.”
Now that they’ve settled in, Alison shared their favourite things about their new home and the development: “Herrington View is in a very good location as it’s very central to Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland via the A1 and A19. By foot there’s a beautiful country park just next to the development and across the road is a garden centre with shops, including a butcher and baker. In the other direction, Shiney Row is a bustling area with shops and amenities such as mini supermarkets, hairdressers, a GP surgery and takeaways - all just a ten minute walk away.
“Our home is very cosy, well equipped and has a good layout. The garden is a good size and offers a blank canvas. We settled in very quickly and it felt like ‘home’ almost immediately.”
