What is Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)?
Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) ensures that we protect and create more space for nature on our developments. This could mean protecting and enhancing existing habitats, and/or creating new ones by introducing grassland meadows with seasonal wildflower planting, ponds or wooded areas for example.
From February 2024, all new developments in England must deliver at least 10% BNG. The ways in which this will be achieved will look different on each development but, put simply, we will leave nature better off than when we started.
We are also working hard to deliver the same level of commitment in Wales and Scotland.
