Logan creates winning speed awareness sign
A pupil at Alder Tree Primary School was named as the winner in a competition to encourage drivers to take care when out and about in the area.
We asked the children to design a speed awareness sign that could be installed at our development.
Logan was chosen as the winner for his colourful design after pupils at the school were encouraged to enter. He was awarded a £50 gift voucher while the school received a £200 donation.
Logan’s winning design has now been turned into new signs for use by both the school and onsite at our development. It is hoped the signs will encourage visitors and new homeowners to make the streets as safe as possible by keeping their driving speed down.
Kate Burton, Principal at Alder Tree Primary School, said: “Our thanks go to Taylor Wimpey for giving our pupils the chance to enter this competition, which we hope will have a positive impact in the local area, especially as we can display the speed awareness sign at the school as well.
“Our pupils not only had fun entering this competition but it also gave them an important lesson in road safety, and how important it is to encourage parents and other drivers to take care when driving.”
Our donation to help improve clubhouse for Yeadon bowlers
We were delighted to give a donation to Yeadon Park Bowling Club to help with refurbishment plans for its clubhouse.
Located in Yeadon Park, in Kirk Lane, the family-friendly club, which has been in existence for more than 100 years, approached us for help in updating the clubhouse for club members and visitors to enjoy.
Reid Harrow, Secretary for Yeadon Park Bowling Club, said: “We pride ourselves on the quality of our facilities and the bowling green, and so we are keen to refurbish the clubhouse and we’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their support. The donation will certainly be put to good use in helping us continue to welcome people to the club.”
Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “We strongly believe in giving back to the communities in which we build and supporting people beyond our developments, especially in grassroot sports.”
Our Investment
A home is more than just a house, it’s also about the community that surrounds it. And that’s why we invest in building communities that support local businesses, improve facilities in the area and help bring people together.

Second year of support for Leeds foodbank
Leeds North and West Foodbank received a £250 donation for the second year running from us to help them provide three days’ worth of nutritionally-balanced emergency food to local people who are in crisis.
The foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, who are working to provide emergency food and practical support to people who have been left without enough money to live on in the local area.
Leeds North and West Foodbank is part of a nationwide community of foodbanks, supported by Trussell, who are working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. It was founded in Moortown in 2013, and currently operates seven foodbank centres open to clients across North and West Leeds and also runs deliveries twice a week to West Leeds areas.
Karen Burgon, CEO of the Leeds North & West Foodbank, said: “We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire for supporting us yet again. We rely on supporters for financial donations to help with purchasing food to supplement the donations we receive and our operational costs and so their donation will certainly be put to good use to provide much-needed aid to people in Leeds.”
