Kenuli said: “I loved designing the welcome card and it’s really exciting to know it will be given to new residents. It was lots of fun getting creative and I’m proud of my design!"
Jason Stokes, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South East, said: “It’s great to see how engaged the pupils at Barming Primary School were in our design competition. It’s a fantastic way to encourage their creativity, and we’d like to thank them all for their wonderful designs. We are sure our new residents will love receiving their welcome cards.”
First-time buyers begin a new chapter in their dream home
Recently engaged couple Ellen Harmsworth, 31, and Thomas Sheehy, 30, have taken an exciting step in their lives together, moving from Orpington to buy their first home at Oakapple Place.
The search for their first home took an exciting turn when Ellen spotted Taylor Wimpey on Instagram. Ellen said: “We’d been looking for our first home together and had already visited the area to see another development, but it didn’t quite feel right. Then, one day, a Taylor Wimpey post popped up on my Instagram feed. We loved the look of the development, so we booked an appointment straight away.”
From the moment they arrived at Oakapple Place for their appointment, Ellen and Thomas knew they had found something special. Thomas said: “Our first impressions were a real ‘wow’ factor. The development was so welcoming, well-kept and it instantly felt like home. Linda and the sales team were so warm and friendly, they really made us feel comfortable from the start.”
The couple chose the three bedroom Gosford house type and were attracted to its flexible layout and open plan design. Ellen said: “We love the kitchen/diner that opens onto the garden, the spacious living room and the welcoming hallway. The downstairs cloakroom, along with the bathroom and en-suite upstairs, is so convenient, and the garage and driveway give us plenty of extra space.”
As first-time buyers looking for a home they could move straight into, a new build was the ideal fit. Ellen explained: “We wanted a home that didn’t need much work, and since my parents have always lived in new builds, they highly recommended them to us.”
“Energy efficiency was also important. We want to do our bit for the environment, and Thomas drives an electric car, so having an EV charger included was a big plus. It was also really fun to personalise the house with our choice of kitchen and flooring.”
With the support of the Taylor Wimpey team, the buying process was straightforward and stress-free. Thomas said: “From start to finish, we couldn’t have asked for more. We had excellent customer service from everyone, especially Linda, Robert, Luke and Shannon. As first-time buyers, we had no idea where to begin but we were guided through every step. Taylor Wimpey were flexible around our work schedules and incredibly patient with all our questions. It’s been a 10/10 experience, and we’d recommend them to anyone.”
A key part of making their dream possible was Taylor Wimpey’s Deposit Contribution scheme. Ellen explained: “The scheme was vital in helping us buy our beautiful Gosford and take our first step onto the property ladder. It covered part of our deposit and allowed us to upgrade our kitchen, freeing up our savings for other costs, like stamp duty and furniture. We’d highly recommend it to others.”
Now happily settled in their new home, Ellen and Thomas couldn’t be happier. Ellen says: “We love living in such a friendly, peaceful area and our home just feels perfect for us. Since moving in, our opinion of the development has only grown, and we know buying here was the best decision we’ve ever made.”
