First time buyers find “somewhere to call home” at Woodlands Chase
Two Heathrow Airport employees have found their dream first home while remaining in an area they love at Woodlands Chase.
Jack Gilbert (27), an Airside Approaching Supervisor, and Emily Kendell (25), a Cabin Crew worker, had been renting a flat in Whiteley when they decided to take their first step onto the property ladder.
Emily said: “We love this area and wanted to stay local for somewhere that we could call home. We also really liked the idea of a new build home; they’re so spacious, have such a welcoming feeling, and there’s no immediate DIY needed.”
Jack said: “We chose Woodlands Chase because the area and transport links are being improved, so we can use public transport if we want to travel from Southampton to London. The surrounding woodland also offers a great nature area to just relax and unwind. Having Whiteley Shopping Centre just down the road is a huge benefit as well.”
Jack and Emily chose Taylor Wimpey due to our spacious homes and strong reputation for quality. As part of an incentive, the couple received a 5% deposit contribution from us to top up the 10% deposit they had put down on their purchase. The incentive also included a tech package, which they received upon moving into their new home and consisted of a Dyson Airwrap, Shark Robot Vacuum, Bose soundbar, Samsung Television, and a MacBook.
Emily said: “The whole buying process with Taylor Wimpey was really positive and we couldn’t recommend them enough, they kept us updated every step of the way.”
Jack added: “The incentives and discounts that Taylor Wimpey have on offer are really good - the tech package was a nice little bonus at the end of buying our first home.”
The couple purchased a three-bedroom Byford home, which has two double bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite, and a third single bedroom which could also be used as a home office or nursery. Downstairs has a spacious living room, and an open plan kitchen/diner with double doors leading to the rear garden.
Now that they’ve settled into their new home, the couple are feeling settled in their new community.
Emily said: “We love how welcoming the house feels and we’re really getting to know our neighbours, the surrounding area and all the walks that are closeby.”

Couple find Dream Home and Community at Woodlands Chase
Shincy, a Chartered Physiotherapist and Jinso, a Senior Support worker, recently moved into their brand-new home at Woodlands Chase and are embracing their new life in the popular new community.
When asked why they chose to move to Woodlands Chase, Jinso said: “The area is very quiet and calm, it’s well-developed, and incredibly comfortable for us. The proximity to walking areas and nearby shopping makes it an ideal location.”
Shincy and her husband Jinso, decided to buy a new-build home over a pre-owned one and said: “We wanted to ensure that the house would be maintenance and hassle-free. The added benefit of warranties and energy-saving features provided peace of mind and made the decision even easier for us.”

There are schools coming up and nearby shopping complexes which are extremely convenient. Everyone is really friendly and the atmosphere at the development is very peaceful.”

When asked about their experience with the sales process, Jinso said: “From the very first visit, the sales team was incredibly helpful and friendly. They guided us through every step, from understanding the financials to explaining the building process and finally handing over the keys. We always felt comfortable and well looked after, with every detail attended to and all our questions answered promptly.”

We inspire a love for reading this World Book Day
We supported a Whiteley school with its World Book Day 2026 celebrations, encouraging a love for reading among pupils while also putting back into the communities in which we build.World Book Day promotes reading for pleasure and sees pupils across the country celebrate their love for literature.
Pupils at Cornerstone CofE Primary School in Whiteley were treated to an author visit from Polly Paint Pony series author, Gemma Merlen, which was arranged and funded by us.
Gemma engaged with different age groups at Cornerstone CofE Primary School, which is close to Woodlands Chase, delivering specially tailored, creative sessions on being an author and the inspiration behind her books, followed by Q&A sessions.
Francesca Pretty, DDSL and LKS2 Leader and English Leader at Cornerstone CofE Primary School, said: “We had a brilliant day this World Book Day with Gemma Merlen’s visit to our school. She spent time with each year group, sharing her books and talking to the children about the ponies that inspired her to write her stories. She answered lots of great questions about what it is like to write her own books and was able to discuss more complex aspects of the publishing process, such as marketing, with our older pupils.”
Roz Wells, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said: “We are so pleased to have supported Cornerstone CofE Primary School this World Book Day and are glad to hear that they had a fun and educational day with Gemme Merlen. We hope that the pupils feel inspired to pick up a book and engage with reading during their spare time - or even write their own.”

Our apprentices craft reading area for local school
Sarisbury Infant School has been gifted a reading area crafted by our apprentices as part of their work at Woodlands Chase.Using inspirational ideas provided by the school, our apprentices, Jack Ray and Jake Blyth, designed the perfect reading area for storytime sessions, featuring benching for pupils surrounding a large reading chair. The area was created to replace an old one that had been removed from the school’s garden after it had become rotten and unsafe.
James Swift, Reception Teacher at Sarisbury Infant School, said: “The Reception children at Sarisbury Infant School are thoroughly enjoying a newly revamped reading area in their garden. This transformation has only been made possible thanks to the kindness and generosity of Taylor Wimpey and its apprentices, who created the story chair and benches.
“The children love listening to and sharing stories as a class and with friends, and it is wonderful to see them being so imaginative and creative using the new reading area. A big thank you to Taylor Wimpey from those of us at Sarisbury Infant School.”
The donation of the reading area was part of our commitment to giving back to the area surrounding Bramley Park our now sold out development in Warsash, which is nearby to Woodlands Chase.

Whiteley School Children Discover Nature at Swanwick Lakes
We have funded a two-day educational adventure for Year 3 pupils at Whiteley Primary School, enabling 60 children to experience the wonders of the natural world at Swanwick Lakes Nature Reserve. The visit, which focused on a Rocks and Soils activity, gave the children a chance to deepen their understanding of earth sciences while fostering a love for the outdoors and the experience was carefully designed to complement the school’s science curriculum.
The children explored how rocks are formed, identified different types of soil, and learned about their importance to ecosystems. By getting hands-on with real-world examples, the children gained practical insights into concepts they had previously only encountered in the classroom.
Lesley Pennington, Headteacher at Whiteley Primary School, said: “We are very keen to make use of the outdoors to help bring the curriculum alive and give children memorable experiences which help support their learning. It’s fantastic to have this resource so close to the school, and the learning experiences really helped children’s scientific understanding. We are extremely grateful to Taylor Wimpey for helping to facilitate this trip.”
Jess Parsons, Wilder Schools and Communities Officer at Swanwick Lakes Nature Reserve, said: “We are always delighted to work with our local schools, and these visits have been a great opportunity to introduce children from Whiteley to the wildlife and wild places on their doorstep. The collaboration with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and NATS enables us to offer these enriching experiences, and we hope to use these visits to continue building relationships with schools, groups and families in the Whiteley area.”
Roz Wells, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said: “We are delighted to have supported Whiteley Primary School in providing such a meaningful and engaging learning experience. At Taylor Wimpey, we understand the value of outdoor education in inspiring the next generation. It’s fantastic to see the children learning in such a dynamic and enjoyable way."
Swanwick Lakes Nature Reserve is a partnership project between Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and NATS, demonstrating a commitment to protecting wildlife while engaging the local community.
Our support for this educational visit underscores our dedication to fostering strong community ties and promoting opportunities for young people to learn and grow.
