From Nottingham to Hertfordshire, teacher enjoys countryside life after relocating to Stortford Fields
With stunning views and plenty of green space for enjoying the outdoors, a Speech and Drama Coach and Teacher has found her dream countryside home at Stortford Fields.Laura Field (67), wanted to move from her home in Nottingham to be closer to her work in Hertfordshire and Essex. After looking at a number of pre-owned properties around the area, she came across an advert for our Stortford Fields development in Bishop’s Stortford.
Laura was already close to completion on the sale of her previous home when she visited Stortford Fields for the first time, and was impressed by the development’s quality, layout and green space.
She said: “I liked the topography, trees and green spaces on the development. It didn’t feel too dense and is also on a hill with great views. I found Taylor Wimpey’s homes to have the best build quality and environmentally-friendly features.”
Her previous home in Nottingham had also been a new build home, and its energy efficiency compelled Laura to purchase another one over an older, pre-owned home. Homes at Stortford Fields come with triple glazing, solar panels, and EV charging points for lower energy bills and sustainable living. Laura was also interested in the 10-year warranty that comes with new build homes, which gives customers peace of mind should anything not quite be right.
Laura chose a two-bedroom flat for its affordability and low-maintenance, and settled into her new home in December 2025, just in time for Christmas.
She said: “The things I like most about my new home are the spacious living room/kitchen area, big bathroom, and the huge storage areas, including generous kitchen cabinets. This apartment building also has bike and bin storage and a sheltered parking area which is handy.
“I love Stortford Fields’ varied layout, trees and green spaces. My apartment has a big balcony which offers wide open views. There are also lots of footpaths and I can walk into the town centre in under 20 minutes.”

Laura said: “The purchasing process was smooth, and supported by the proactive communication from the sales team, which was deeply impressive. Both the sales team and move-in manager were personable and helpful - it’s been a brilliant experience.”
First time buyer enjoys countryside living at “tranquil” Stortford Fields
After living with his parents while saving for a deposit, a first time buyer has been able to purchase his first home in Bishop’s Stortford.Filip Kusnir (25), an Analytical Chemist, moved into his new Taylor Wimpey apartment in August 2025. His parents’ home is also a newbuild home, which gave Filip the assurance in quality to opt for the same rather than purchasing a pre-owned one.
Filip said: “We’ve had no major issues with it for as long as we have lived there, which gave me the confidence that my own new build property would also be relatively problem-free for the first couple of decades that I’ll be living in it.
“Another privilege of purchasing a new build home rather than a pre-owned one is not having to rely on the sales chain - which alleviates half the stress.”
As Filip works in Hoddesdon, he needed a property nearby while also staying close to his parents’ home in Harlow. While Filip had explored other developments in the area, Stortford Fields made the best impression.
Filip said: “Stortford Fields is both close to my work and my parents’ house and its proximity to Stansted Airport is also a major bonus, along with the convenient bus connections leading straight to the terminal. It also had the perfect property for me available; its specification and completion date were perfect for my needs.”
Filip chose a one bedroom apartment as his first home, which is ideal for first time buyers looking to make their first step onto the property ladder.
As a first time buyer, Filip found the purchasing process with our sales team to be far better than he had expected and the incentives that he had hoped to get from purchasing a newbuild home helped with his affordability.
He said: “Taylor Wimpey were really thorough from start to finish. They were always eager to meet my needs and help me overcome the various hurdles faced while buying a new home, especially as a first time buyer.
“The sales team were very helpful in answering all of the questions I had along the way, and the solicitors and mortgage brokers were also very helpful and worked tirelessly to finalise the sale. I had a 5% deposit contribution from Taylor Wimpey and the property price was also reduced slightly to help me meet the required deposit goal I had saved up for.
“Taylor Wimpey also agreed to leave the furnishings in the apartment free of charge, which was a major help and I was really grateful for. This allowed me to comfortably move in as soon as I was ready, and I was able to slowly purchase more furniture according to my needs instead of living in a barren apartment.”
Now that he’s settling into his new home, Filip is enjoying the countryside living of Stortford Fields.
He said: “The tranquility of the area is very comforting; the development is far enough away from major roads that I don’t get any noise pollution. My apartment is also south-facing, which maximises natural lighting during the day, and the balcony is also a major bonus. Despite being a ground floor apartment, the balcony is slightly elevated off the ground level and there’s a secondary fence around the block which gives me an extra layer of privacy from the road - which I appreciate.”
First time buyers settle into new apartment in under a month
Jay Kingsbury (25), a tyre technician, and Simisola Adedeji-Obadara (25), a quantity surveyor, are settling into their first home together after moving into an apartment less than a month after putting down a deposit. The couple had been living with their parents when they made the decision to take their first step onto the property ladder. After scouring the market and deciding that a pre-owned property was not what they were looking for as their first home, the couple looked to new builds.
Wanting to stay in the area close to family, Jay and Simisola visited Stortford Fields. After speaking to the sales team and looking at the range of apartments on offer, they quickly made a decision.
Jay said: “We found Taylor Wimpey and thought ‘this is the one’. Their homes are bigger and better value for money. We had looked at other developments, but Stortford Fields was more within our budget while having everything we needed.”
The couple bought a two-bedroom apartment in June 2025. As their chosen plot was in use as a showhome, they had the chance to look at every element of their future home in detail before buying.
Jay said: “As soon as we walked in, we really liked it. When we first viewed the apartment it was a showhome so we could fully visualise what it could look like. On our second visit it had no furniture, which was great because it allowed our imagination to go wild and it helped us to decide what we wanted. I suggested that we could turn the storage room into a walk-in-wardrobe and Simisola’s eyes lit up at the idea.”
Simisola added: “As an incentive, we were offered a 5% deposit contribution on our home which really helped and it made our decision a lot easier. The sales team were very helpful and we were surprised about how quickly everything happened, especially because we were on holiday for a part of it. It was quick, easy and efficient. After paying our holding deposit, it was less than a month before we moved in. The Touchpoint app also really helped with the process as well.”
After reserving their home, customers can use our Touchpoint app to track their homebuying journey, from following its build progress to the final move-in date. The app also allows customers to choose their finishing touches such as flooring, access the dimensions and floor plans of their new home whenever they need, stay in touch with the sales team and book appointments at the sales office.
Now that they’ve settled into their new home, the couple are enjoying life as part of the Stortford Fields community.
Simisola said: “The area is safe and close to our family. The whole flat is quite lovely, and it’s easy to get hold of the team if we need anything. We loved styling and furnishing the flat to how we wanted it to look and putting our own twist on it.”
First time buyers take first step onto property ladder
Ryan Underdown (27), a surveyor, and his fiance, Sadie Clifton (28), a teacher, were living with their parents in Harlow when they decided to take their first step onto the property ladder with the purchase of their new Taylor Wimpey home.
When asked why they opted for a newly built home over a pre-owned one, Ryan said: “We chose a new build because the designs are very modern and nobody would have lived in it before us, which made it feel more like it would be ours. Taylor Wimpey’s available properties suited our budget, they looked good, and the incentives on offer were great.
“We looked at Stortford Fields as it’s a really nice development and the local area appealed to us. When we first visited the site, our first impression was that it had been designed well, was in a good area, and had lots of nice outdoor space.”
The couple chose a top floor two-bedroom apartment, and moved into their new home in June. Commenting on the purchasing process, Ryan said: “The purchasing process was made easy thanks to the sales team. They were a great help the whole way through and made sure we understood the steps to getting a mortgage. As a first time buyer, the whole process went so smoothly. The sales team frequently checked in on us and if we had any questions they would get back to us almost instantly.
“Taylor Wimpey provided us with a deposit contribution, which enabled us to put a 10% deposit down instead of 5%. This then meant we had more options on what bank we could get the mortgage with and also meant our interest rate was lower.”
Now that they’ve settled in, Ryan shared their favourite things about their apartment, the development and the local area: “Our apartment is the perfect size for us and is very spacious. We love the designs of the kitchen and bathrooms. We really enjoy visiting the local cricket club, and going for walks on the public paths and through the woodland area nearby.”
Downsizer finds forever home ready for retirement
Linda Barnes (61), a worker in the finance sector, was looking to retire in her forever home when she came across her dream Taylor Wimpey home at Coopers Grange in Bishop's Stortford, nearby to Stortford Fields.
Having lived in an old cottage for eight years in Little Hadham, Linda was ready to move on and find a home to settle into ready for her retirement. She said: “Little Hadham is quite remote, with no shops or public transport nearby, so it felt quite cut off, especially during the winter months. On top of this, older houses are very costly to maintain.
“I had never owned or lived in a new-build home, but the idea of having everything new and fresh really appealed to me and also meant I wouldn’t need to decorate my new home, which was a big plus. On top of this, the thought of living in a close community such as a new-build development was very appealing. The parking in new-build developments is also so much better as it was very difficult to park in Little Hadham, especially when I had guests over.”
When asked why she chose Taylor Wimpey for her home purchase, she said: “I have a family member who works in construction and they told me that Taylor Wimpey is the best in the industry as the new-builds are to a high-standard and the aftercare is excellent.
“Coopers Grange’s location attracted me initially because it’s closer to local shops and the town is not too far away. When I first viewed the development, the property I ended up purchasing was still in the build stage, but I could tell just by driving through the development that I was going to enjoy living there as there is a real community spirit. My first impression was how clean the development was and how nice the houses and apartments had been built.”
Wanting to downsize from her cottage, Linda opted for a two bedroom apartment, she said: “I chose a two bedroom apartment for the extra space so that friends can stay over. Even though this is a downsize from the cottage, all the rooms are really spacious. Both bedrooms are larger than the average double bedroom and the living area being open plan makes everything feel so much bigger. I was also surprised with how much storage space there is; I have a double door storage cupboard from the floor to the ceiling that’s big enough to fit a single bed in! It also really appealed to me that the apartment comes with its own private drive which I love. I have never lived in a flat before, but downsizing was the best decision I have made.”
She purchased her new home using our Easymover scheme, which allows buyers to secure their new home before their old one is sold. The sales team then helps buyers to manage the sale of their existing home using their marketing and negotiating skills to make the sales process as simple as possible by removing the pressure to find a buyer. Estate agent fees are covered* and the sales team then stays in contact with the customer, saving them both money and time.
Commenting on the Easymover scheme and the purchasing process, Linda said: “The sales team were fantastic; nothing was too much trouble and they kept me fully informed every step of the way.
“The Easymover scheme was also excellent, the sales team assisted with both the provisional reservation of my plot and the sale of my property. It was so straightforward and took all the stress out of the buying and selling process. My estate agency fees were also covered by the scheme.”
Linda moved into her new home in December 2024 and shared some of her favourite things about her new home and the local area, she said: “I love that everything is so new and fresh. Coming home from work and being able to easily go to the park is very important to me and there are bus stops close by and the train station is only a seven minute drive away. Plus being able to walk to the local shops is something I never had in Little Hadham.
“If I had known how excellent Taylor Wimpey was, I would have bought a new-build years ago. Buying this plot was a real leap of faith as it hadn’t been built yet, but Taylor Wimpey kept me up to date every step of the way. The staff from reservation to completion have been first class.”
With Coopers Grange now sold out, prospective buyers looking to purchase a new home in the Bishop’s Stortford area are being urged to arrange a visit at Stortford Fields.
Family upsize to new Taylor Wimpey home in just four weeks
Lisa Gray (40), a Senior Accounts Administrator, and her husband, Ryan (41), an Associate Partner Consultant, moved to Bishop’s Stortford with their two daughters, Ava (12) and Indi (8), and their dog, Teddy, in search of more space and proximity to schools.
When asked why they chose a new build home over a pre-owned one, Lisa said: “We have only ever lived in new builds. We are drawn to the finished product and we aren’t the type of people to do lots of DIY, so it’s perfect for us to be able to move straight into a brand-new home.”
After previously living in a semi-detached three bedroom home in Takeley, Lisa and Ryan chose The Garrton house type, a spacious, five bedroom home. Commenting on the house type, Lisa said: “We were drawn to this type of home because of the floor plan. We liked the open plan kitchen/diner, but also the fact that the lounge area, office and cloakroom were all separate. There are also two bedrooms and a bathroom on the third floor for our daughters.”
Lisa and Ryan used our part exchange scheme which allows customers to sell their existing home to us, removing the stress of selling the property*. When asked about their experience with the part exchange scheme and sales process, Lisa said: “We decided to part exchange our house to remove any sales chains and help the process go quicker. We were very happy with how easy and smooth the process was; it only took four weeks from start to completion and we couldn’t believe how quickly it happened, but we were delighted with it.
“The Taylor Wimpey sales team has been amazing from start to finish. The quality and finish of our home is great and we have been living here for nearly four weeks now and are very happy. We hope to have many happy years living in Bishop's Stortford in our beautiful new home.”

We sponsored Bishop’s Stortford school’s 20th anniversary celebration fundraiser
Windhill21 Primary School celebrated its 20th anniversary with a hoedown-themed party, which also raised £3,000 for the school.The party, which took place on 16th July 2026, was organised by the Windhill School Association, we sponsored the event with a £500 donation.
Attendees enjoyed ice cream and bubble tea and had fun with inflatables, line dancing, and panning for gold. There were plenty of cowboy-themed games to take part in, such as horse shoe water shooting, cactus lassoing, a water balloon tin can alley, and also a giant marble run. To help boost the fundraising efforts, eight of the school’s teachers also volunteered to be soaked, including the headteacher.
“From non-stop line dancing and bustling stalls to giant inflatables and the crowd-favourite dunking of our brave teacher 'villains'. It was a fantastic showcase of our school spirit, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make it such a memorable celebration."

We celebrate World Book Day with local school
We helped to make this year's World Book Day a memorable occasion for pupils at Northgate Primary School by hosting a storytelling session with local storyteller, Alex Shows.To celebrate this year's World Book Day, which took place on Thursday 6th March, the children were invited to Stortford Fields on Tuesday 4th March. During the visit, which was organised in collaboration with PTA Partnership Lead Katie Homer, the children were able to get comfy in our show home and enjoyed four engaging storytelling sessions, bringing the magic of books to life.
Through her captivating storytelling, Alex ignited the children’s imagination, immersing the children into the world of popular tales, bringing the best of British literature to life.
World Book Day promotes reading for pleasure, whilst aiming to provide every child and young person with the opportunity to have a book of their own.
Mrs Layer, Assistant Head and Head of Reading at Northgate Primary School, said: "We are very fortunate to have enjoyed this memorable experience. Reading is a lifelong skill and one that should be enjoyed by all. One of our main aims as teachers is to ignite learning and promote reading."

Local School Children Get Their Hands Dirty with Mud Kitchen Donation
Pupils from Avanti Brook Primary School in Bishops Stortford, Knebworth Primary and Nursery School in Knebworth, and Fairlands Primary School in Stevenage have been given the opportunity to get their hands dirty thanks to the donation of three mud kitchens.
The donations are part of our commitment to supporting education and outdoor play in the communities where we build. The children have been getting creative with their own mud recipes to help aid their development and connect with the great outdoors.
The complete and life-like mud kitchens are an excellent outdoor play resource that encourages children to engage in imaginative and sensory play. Situated in the play areas of the schools the children are able to enhance their creativity and improve their problem-solving skills all while promoting physical activity and overall well-being.
