We encourage Hoddesdon pupils’ love for reading this World Book Day
We donated an outdoor library and nearly £1,000 worth of books to High Leigh Primary School to support its World Book Day celebrations.
The school, located on our High Leigh Garden Village development, has installed the outdoor library in its playground so that pupils can have access to books to read during their breaktime.
World Book Day, which took place on the 5th March 2026, promotes reading for pleasure and sees pupils across the country celebrate their love for literature.
High Leigh Primary School is also taking part in The National Year of Reading 2026 campaign, which was launched by the Department for Education and the National Literacy Trust in response to a survey* which revealed that reading for pleasure is facing a generational decline. The campaign aims to reverse this, and encourage reading engagement across the UK. The school received nearly £1,000 worth of books from Books for Topics’ recommended reading list for children** in support of the school’s participation in the campaign.
“Partnerships like this make a real difference, and we sincerely thank Taylor Wimpey for investing in the learning and development of our pupils.”
Jason Turner, Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey North Thames, said: “We are delighted to support High Leigh Primary School with both its World Book Day celebrations and also its involvement in The National Year of Reading 2026 campaign.
“We hope that our donation of the outdoor library and books will encourage the pupils to pick up a book during their free time and engage with reading for pleasure outside of the classroom. The books that have been donated were especially selected to cover a wide range of interests and reading skills, ensuring that this outdoor library will offer something for everyone.”

We Sponsor Inclusive Events for Neurodivergent Children and Young People
We helped SPACE host inclusive and accessible events for the children and young people it supports with a £2,000 sponsorship. The charity, which is based in Stanstead Abbots, nearby to High Leigh Garden Village, supports the families of young people and children who are neurodivergent. After receiving feedback from parents and carers which highlighted that many neurodivergent children are not invited to parties, SPACE decided to host their own Easter events for the children and young people in Hertfordshire it supports to have fun, take part in a packed itinerary of activities, and also socialise with other neurodivergent people.
Our donation is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the community surrounding High Leigh Garden Village, and covered the predicted budget for the two Easter events.
The main Easter party included an egg hunt, Easter-themed games, crafts, music, dancing, and a visit from the Easter bunny. The families also took part in a range of exciting activities at Rye-Assic Adventure Park in Hoddesdon, including go-karting, soft play, inflatable games and other Easter activities.
“Thanks to Taylor Wimpey’s support, not only were we able to deliver a truly special party, but we also brought some Easter magic to our event at Rye-Assic Adventure Park. Their kindness helped us make this Easter a time of inclusion, joy and celebration for the families we support.”
Jason Turner, Sales Manager at High Leigh Garden Village, said: “We are delighted to have sponsored SPACE’s Easter events to provide neurodivergent young adults and children in Hertfordshire with an Easter celebration in an inclusive and welcoming environment. We’re glad to hear that everyone had a fun time at both events and that our donation helped to cover most of the costs to make them as memorable as possible.”

We Partnered with University of Hertfordshire to Showcase Local Interior Design Talent
We are proud to announce the success of our recent collaboration with The University of Hertfordshire, which challenged interior design students to create bespoke room designs for the brand-new Braxton show home at High Leigh Garden Village. This unique initiative, in collaboration with interior designers, Clayton & Company, gave students the opportunity to design rooms that would appeal to prospective homeowners, encouraging creativity and real-world application of their studies.
Students were tasked with submitting a short design statement, a mood board, and three renders - one for each room in their chosen concept. The response was overwhelming, with a variety of thoughtful and innovative designs making the selection process an exciting challenge.
After much deliberation, in partnership with Clayton & Company, we selected three winners; Phoenix Ang for her relaxing and contemporary living room, Elen Shakhnazaryan for her cosy and inviting main bedroom and Chloe Hobbs for her playful and inspiring children’s bedroom.
Each winner had the unique opportunity to bring their ideas to life, working hands-on at the show home to see their creative visions realised. On Friday 15th November, all competition participants were invited to attend the show home unveiling, where they could admire the full house and see the impact of their contributions in real life.
Winner Elen Shakhnazaryan, said: “It was a great experience to explore Taylor Wimpey’s previous design projects and find a pattern among them. The very interesting part was to keep the essence of a showhome’s feeling as always cosy, yet adding some fresh point of view on a new design to make it more elegant and sophisticated.
“I really appreciated this opportunity and it was a pleasure to connect with company members and designers to see my ideas come into life.”
Victoria Wright, Design Project Manager at Clayton & Company, said: "It was such a pleasure to work with Taylor Wimpey and the students at The University of Hertfordshire on this competition. Chloe, Phoenix, and Elen's designs were so inspired, and it was great to turn them into a reality. We wish them all the very best for their interior design careers."
Dr Erica Liu, Programme Leader BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design at The University of Hertfordshire, said: “The collaboration project with Taylor Wimpey and Clayton & Company was an invaluable experience for the students to learn how the industry works and see how their designs were being implemented on site”.
