Upsizers find dream home for hosting friends and family
Sara (73) and Stephen Cooper-Wrighton (73), both semi-retired, realised they had found their perfect home to spend their retirement in after visiting Gillingham Lakes.
Having previously lived in Banbury, Sara and Steve were looking for a quieter location that was closer to family. The couple wanted to upsize from their three bedroom house so that they would have more room for hosting friends and family.
When asked why they chose Taylor Wimpey, Sara said: “I had previously bought a new Taylor Wimpey home in 2016, so I was familiar with Taylor Wimpey’s standards and house styles.” While they weren’t actively thinking about moving home at the time, a visit to Gillingham Lakes out of curiosity confirmed the decision, Sara said: “Gillingham Lakes was just what we were looking for.”
For the extra space, the Rossdale house type was perfect for their needs. It has three double bedrooms and a fourth, smaller bedroom which can be purposed as an office or children’s bedroom. The house features a large, open plan kitchen and dining area and a spacious living room with double doors leading to the rear garden. Sara said: “It’s spacious and allows me to cook and entertain in the same room. I also like how it has only one flight of stairs as our previous home was a town house, so it had two.”
The couple moved into their home in April 2025, when asked about the sales process, Sara said: “The sales team were great. They were responsive and efficient and kept chasing the chain.”
