Donation hits right note for Garforth Brass
We donated £250 to Garforth Brass which has been entertaining audiences at concerts and events across the region for more than 20 years. The group, based at Garforth Methodist Church, takes pride in mentoring its players, with the opportunity to compete in regional and national competitions through the contesting band, while the training band offers tuition to players of all backgrounds and abilities. Janet Lymath, Treasurer at Garforth Brass, said: “At Garforth Brass, we predominantly rely on donations from our supporters to ensure that our players can continue to perform and compete. With running costs higher than ever, we are extremely grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their support.”Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “We hope our donation goes some way to helping the group continue to bring people together through music.”
Giant bug hotel installed
Our enormous bug hotel has become such a feature at Morwick Springs, as our development helps to provide new homes for both wildlife and people.
We commissioned Wildlife and Birdcare Nature recovery project (CIC) to provide the giant 2m by 4m bug hotel, with the design including the initials MS to add a touch of style to the stunning centrepiece. Social enterprise Wildlife and Birdcare Nature recovery project works to care for nature and people, supporting those with additional needs into employment. It creates wood products that support various creatures, including hedgehogs, squirrels, birds, bats, owls and bugs.
The group works with people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, aged 19 to 25 years, as well as supporting ex-forces personnel returning to civilian work, especially those struggling with PTSD or amputation.
Sammy Holman, Autistic CEO of Wildlife and Birdcare Nature recovery project (CIC), said: “When you look at the biodiversity of the land, it is the small things that help run the planet, are part of our natural eco system and it is our job to save and protect them. Therefore, we encourage the new community at Morwick Springs to also make their gardens nature rich.”
Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “We hope our residents enjoy not just the beauty of the piece, but also what it is doing to support local wildlife.”
We support Leeds homelessness charity with donation
We donated £13,000 during 2025 for Leeds-based homelessness charity, St George’s Crypt, after it was named as our chosen charity 2025.
We raised the money to support its work transforming lives through its Pathway service to break the cycle of homelessness and dependency. Fundraising saw seven members of staff join the Leeds Big Sleep, while others took part in a Tour de France-inspired cyclathon. Staff cycled on a static bike the distance from their head office to the Eiffel Tower - 475 miles - over the course of a week.
Other activities included bake sales, tuck shops, and food days where people donated cash to enjoy various foods. Around £9,000 also came from subcontractor sponsorship.
Managing Director Lisa Waugh said: “We are really proud of everyone at our regional office for the work and dedication they have shown in raising money.
“Everyone has been really blown away by how much they do at St George’s Crypt, as they don’t just provide food and a bed for the night, they provide access to GPs, physiotherapy, dentists, they have a drug and alcohol abstinence program, and are creating residential centres.” The team also coordinated clothing donations throughout last year, with a dedicated collection point at the head office. Larger items, such as wall heaters, ovens, fridges and washing machines, were also donated to support the charity’s residential units."
Richard Leavis, Corporate Fundraiser at St George’s Crypt, based in Great George Street, which helps more than 1,500 people each year, said: “We are very grateful for everyone’s support at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, who have gone above and beyond to support our work and help us continue to offer care, compassion and hope to the homeless, vulnerable and those suffering from addiction.”
