Monument Way
The perfect place to be
Robroyston is known for its rich local history through its ties to William Wallace; the town has a monument as a dedication. Monument Way offers a suburban lifestyle with a choice of outdoor pursuits available close by at the Seven Lochs Wetland Park, balanced with the convenience of helpful travel links to Glasgow city centre via local bus routes and Robroyston train station which are ideal for commuters. This new community is well served by a good range of local amenities such as shops at Wallace Well Retail Park, gyms and there’s a good choice of primary and secondary schools nearby to suit growing families.

Welcome to Monument Way
There is a real sense of community at Monument WayWhy we moved to Monument Way
Software engineer Vijay Lingagiri and his family are among the first families to move into Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s Monument Way development in Robroyston. They even decided on the style of house they loved before they chose the location.
The team from Taylor Wimpey at Monument Way has been so helpful, from visiting another development's show home to providing regular progress updates. Vijay explains: “My wife Vijaya and I originally started our search for a new property by looking at flats, but we discovered that we could get so much more space for our budget by looking at new homes.

“We looked at houses for most of the large housebuilders, but we liked Taylor Wimpey’s floorplans the best. We particularly wanted to make sure that our dining room and kitchen would be well away from the downstairs WC.
“When we saw the Drummond four-bedroom detached house at Taylor Wimpey’s Newton Farm development in Cambuslang, we knew it was the right house for us. At the time we were doing our research, our son Tusshar was also applying to Glasgow University. When he was accepted, we were then able to decide on the best location for us, and that was Robroyston.

“It’s an easy commute for me to work in Glasgow and for my son to attend university. A friend at work recommended this area too, which is why we decided to consider it here, and we are very happy that we did.
“The sales team at Taylor Wimpey was great from the start, providing us with invaluable support throughout our buying process. From the construction site to sales and the customer service team, everyone was willing to go the extra mile to make everything as smooth as possible. The quality of our house is outstanding, and we have no complaints.
“Our move-in day was great, too; the home demo the week before was very helpful. Now we feel like we've settled in, and we're just so delighted with all the space that we have—it's just so big for the three of us.”
Buying a house involves many financial considerations, and Taylor Wimpey was there to support the family. “We received a significant 5% contribution for our deposit from Taylor Wimpey,” adds Vijay, “which was a substantial help. The company’s financial support, combined with their experience and responsiveness throughout the process, made our home purchase much smoother.”
Energy efficiency and buying a new home offered to the family were also important factors for the family; as Vijay explains: “When we were looking to buy a new house, we did consider energy efficiency because, in our previous flat, the bills were very expensive. I already think that in winter we will notice a big difference in how much our bills are lower here.

“It’s important to me not to waste energy, and I like the energy efficiency our new home offers. Since I moved in, I have also bought an electric car, and it was so helpful there was EV cabling at my house to make installing a charging point easy.
“When we decided that it was time to move, we considered older properties as well as new houses. My wife didn't like the older properties, and I really like the modern houses because they're just so efficient. I also enjoy that there is no maintenance to be done. So, we are all happy!”
Taylor Wimpey continues to support homeowners long after they have moved in, as Vijay concludes: “The aftercare that we've had since we've moved into Monument Way has been fantastic. Jim, the site manager, has just been lovely, and there has never been anything that his team can't sort. I also have found that Billy, who helps Jim to finish the houses at the development, is very helpful.
"Everyone's responsive, and there's never a negative. It's great now that we've also got some neighbours. We talked to most of them, and they're so friendly, so it’s lovely to be here at the development at such an early stage.

Construction of new homes at Monument Way is well underway, and the first homeowners have moved into their new homes.
As part of our health and safety talk to nearby Wallacewell Primary School, we challenged the children to design a health and safety poster that would remind the local community of the dangers associated with playing near any construction site.
The standard of entries was so impressive that seven designs were selected to be included within a banner to be displayed at the development. The children each won a £15 national book voucher.
It is important to be proactive and work with local schools, as Deryck Schendel, Regional Health and Safety Advisor for Taylor Wimpey in Scotland, explains, “Health and safety in and around our construction areas is so important to Taylor Wimpey. As a follow-up activity to our in-school health and safety presentation, our poster challenge is a great way for children to demonstrate what they learned during our visit.”
Mrs Taylor, Depute Head Teacher at Wallacewell Primary School, adds: “Following Taylor Wimpey's health and safety presentation, the children were tasked with creating health and safety posters. The designs on the banners for the development are colourful and striking, and we are very proud of our children’s efforts to remind the wider local community never to play near a live construction site.”

We returned to school recently to remind the children at Wallacewell Primary in Robroyston about health and safety, as construction at our development of new homes at nearby Monument Way is underway.
Homeowners are now moving in, and we were keen to promote the dangers associated with playing near a construction site. This visit also allowed us to raise awareness of the children’s need to be extra vigilant as the building of our new homes progresses, especially as the school summer holidays are due to start in just a few weeks’ time.
Being proactive with local schools has proven an effective deterrent in the past.
Following Taylor Wimpey’s presentation, the children have been tasked with creating health and safety posters that will be considered for display at the development to remind those in the wider local community never to play near a live construction site.

Supporting the community
We have marked another milestone in our ongoing partnership with Barmulloch Community Development Company (BCDC) by making a second donation of £975 as part of our commitment to support the local community surrounding our Monument Way development in Robroyston.
We previously pledged to donate £25 for every new home sold and legally completed within the first phase of the development. With the development continuing to prove popular with new homebuyers, this latest contribution brings the total donated so far to BCDC to £1,675, with a final projected sum of £2,975 to be paid upon completion of the first phase of new homes.
This second donation will continue to support BCDC’s wide range of community projects and initiatives.
