Learn about our plans for an exciting new community in Ross-on-Wye

Kyrle Green is located on Dragon Road in Ross-on-Wye, as part of the wider St. Mary's Garden Village development. The scheme will comprise up to 93 new homes, including two, three and four-bedroom houses, of which 17% will be affordable housing.

Our reserved matters planning application was approved in May 2023, which deals with the finer details of the development, such as the mix, layout and design of the homes. We continue working closely with Edenstone Homes, local residents, Herefordshire Council and key stakeholders to develop plans for an exciting new community in the town of Ross-on-Wye.

It’s important to us that we listen to the views of the local community as we develop our plans. You can find out more about our proposals on this web page which will be updated as our plans evolve.

Previous use

Kyrle Green lies to the east of the A40 in Ross-on-Wye. The proposed development land was previously used for agricultural purposes.

Previous planning applications

Outline planning permission for this site was granted by Herefordshire Council in December 2019. This established the main principles of development, which Taylor Wimpey will adhere to as the site progresses.

Reserved matters planning application was approved in May 2023, focused on the delivery of up to 93 homes. This outlines the finer details of the development including the mix, layout and design of the homes.

History of the site features

Connectivity

We understand that the new development will have an impact on the local community, and we have carefully considered this as we have developed our proposals.

As approved in the outline planning application, the main access into the development will be via Dragon Road. This primary road will run centrally through the scheme, with secondary, private roads branching-off to access homes. The main road through the centre of the development and nearby pedestrian walkways will be planted with trees, providing a quick and attractive way to get around the development.

Drainage

We have prepared a surface water drainage strategy that proposes sustainable drainage systems to ensure the appropriate drainage infrastructure is in place to serve the development.

We have proposed the inclusion of an attenuation basin at the southwestern edge of the site to help control the flow of surface water.

Open space

Ensuring our residents and the local community have access to beautiful green open spaces is a key consideration. Our site residents will have access to the wider green area and open space facilities located in St. Mary's Garden Village.

Sustainability

We’re committed to building greener, healthier homes for us all. From energy efficient fixtures and fittings, to cutting our carbon emissions, and enhancing green open spaces, we build sustainability into everything we do.

Preserving and enhancing local wildlife is a key consideration when planning new developments.  Our plans include significant opportunities to enhance the site and improve biodiversity through habitat creation and improvements.
