Growing family finds their perfect home, thanks to Taylor Wimpey

James and Ruby share their experience of buying their new home and Barham Meadows.

Falling in love with the area

James (29) and Ruby (29) have made the move to Barham Meadows to enjoy their new family home.

After living in a four-bedroom home in Great Blakenham, James and Ruby decided to move their family to the Barham Meadows development. James said: “We chose Barham Meadows because we wanted to upsize but didn’t want to leave the area. We love to get outside and there are various parks, schools, shops and pubs all within walking distance, which is really important to us. The development also appealed to us because there was a wide range of house types available so we were able to choose the perfect one to suit our needs as a growing family.”

One of the reasons we chose Taylor Wimpey was because my sister and uncle both bought Taylor Wimpey properties at Brightwell Lakes and Wolsey Grange recently and recommended them to us. We would now join them in recommending Taylor Wimpey to anyone considering moving.”

The perfect place for their family

James and Ruby moved into the five-bedroom Thirlford housetype, perfect for growing families like theirs. Ruby told us: “The open plan kitchen, dining and family room stretching across the back of the house was what sold the house type to us, with lots of light coming in through the windows and patio doors. We were able to choose our kitchen and flooring, so we are really pleased with how it looks. 

“We loved the idea that our little one can play in the family room and we can close the pocket doors on all the toys at the end of the day. It is also great because if she is playing in the garden whilst we are busy in the kitchen, we can keep an eye on her!”

The Thirlford housetype also has an extra front room downstairs, which can be used in many different ways. Ruby told us: “We use the front room as a home office! As I work from home, this space was perfect for me and a really good size.”

The family had a great buying experience with Taylor Wimpey. James said: “Our buying journey was smooth and straightforward. We used the solicitor Taylor Wimpey recommended and the process was all very simple. The sales team were always so helpful and accommodating; we always felt welcome to pop in to see any progress on the house while it was being built to ask any questions. The team also kept us well informed throughout the build and were super friendly.” 


The family is thoroughly enjoying life at Barham Meadows and settling into their new home. Ruby told us: “Our little one loves to be on the go so being close to various parks is perfect for her. We enjoy living in the countryside, slightly outside of Ipswich, but close enough to the A14 for James to get to work and to get to the local amenities in town like the swimming pool. I like to run and there are lots of lovely routes in the area with beautiful views of the countryside.


James added: “Our favourite part of coming home is seeing our daughter running round and playing in all the extra space we now have inside and out in the garden. She is so excited to come home to the ‘new house’ when we come around the corner, which makes it very exciting for us all.”
