Bring the festival vibe home this summer

Festival season is in full swing but if muddy fields and camping aren't your thing, why not create that magic atmosphere in your own home? With a few creative touches, you can turn your home into the perfect backdrop for a mini festival to remember. Here are some tips to help you to host your very own stay-at-home celebration for friends and family.

Make it personal

The best at-home festivals reflect your personality and bring people together. Whether you're into indie rock, electronic music, or acoustic sessions, curate an experience, and a playlist, that feels authentic to you and your loved ones.

Create a "lineup poster" featuring your friends as the headline acts, complete with personalised stage names. Send festival-style invitations to build excitement, and don't forget to make custom festival wristbands as keepsakes.

Set the stage outdoors

Your garden is your festival field. String fairy lights across fences, pergolas, or between trees to create that recognisable festival glow that'll have your guests feeling the magic as soon as they arrive.

Set up a designated "stage area" using outdoor rugs to define the space, and set up speakers for your carefully curated playlist. For something extra, try a silent disco area with wireless headphones - perfect for partying into the night to music of your choice.

Serve up a festival feast

Food is a huge part of the festival experience. To recreate that at home, set up themed food stations around your garden - think a BBQ area, a drinks station with infused waters and cocktails, and a corner for festival favourites like loaded fries or gourmet burgers.

Use chalkboard signs to label each station, just like real festival vendors. Mason jars for drinks and wooden serving boards will add authentic touches without breaking the bank.

Ambience is everything

As the sun sets, keep that festival feeling alive with solar-powered lanterns to create pools of warm light. Laying out blankets for guests to cosy up under when the temperature drops is a nice touch, and don’t forget citronella candles to keep insects at bay.

If your home has patio doors opening onto the garden, leave them wide open to encourage a natural flow that's perfect for mingling and creating separate zones for different activities.
Ambience

Add fun and games

Keep your guests entertained with lawn games like giant Jenga, or lean into fun activities for all ages with hula-hoops and space hoppers that'll get everyone laughing together. For a more grown up vibe, host a music quiz - perfect for testing your friends' knowledge and a bit of healthy competition.

Create comfortable seating areas with floor cushions, throws, and low tables where guests can relax and chat between activities.

Be ready for the weather

British weather is famously unpredictable, so have a backup plan. Consider a gazebo to keep the party going outside come rain or shine, and have some spare umbrellas to hand for those inevitable showers.

Our homes feature spacious living areas that can accommodate your party indoors too. Bring the fairy lights inside, rearrange furniture to create cosy conversation areas, and keep the playlist flowing seamlessly to indoor speakers.

Close: With a little creativity and planning, you can throw a home-grown festival that'll have your guests talking all summer. So round up your loved ones, send those invites, and get ready to host an experience you’ll never forget.
