Taylor Wimpey East Scotland announces partnership with Dunbar Shed
As part of its ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities, leading UK housebuilder Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has teamed up with Dunbar Shed, based in Dunbar, to confirm that it will donate £25 for each new home sold and legally completed within its development of new homes at its Belhaven Way development in Dunbar.
Based on the development’s 245 new homes, a grand sum of £6,125 will be paid to Dunbar Shed as work progresses over the next few years. This follows last year’s support for Dunbar Shed and its involvement in Sustaining Dunbar’s Pledgehog Project to design and produce hedgehog houses for the East Lothian town. This latest announcement signals a long-term relationship with Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, with money directly supporting Dunbar Shed's work locally.
Dunbar Shed is a small but well-equipped workshop managed by a few multi-skilled volunteers. Its goal is to benefit local people by making new friends, promoting good health, and combating loneliness. It is a registered charity (SC052105), membership is free, and the well-being of local people is at the top of its agenda. The Shed is located within the Dunbar Business Centre on Spott Road. People over 18 can become members and then either drop in to use the facilities or get some guidance while making their own creations.

Bob Fleet from Dunbar Shed said: “We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, and we can’t thank them enough for their generous donation. On behalf of everyone who uses Dunbar Shed's local services, I would like to say a huge thank you. As well as building their own creations, people who come to the Shed can get involved in the various community projects we support, which last year included the Pledgehog Project to design and produce hedgehog houses for the town. Other projects include making and installing ten sleeper benches throughout Dunbar, helping a local nursery install raised beds, and working with the Rotary Club to install station planters. This year we’re also building bird boxes! So, as well as providing support, companionship, and skills development, members of the Shed can also get involved in projects that directly benefit the local community and our environment.”

Dunbar Minis RFC
We have supported the annual Dunbar Rugby Football club minis tournament in 2023 and 2024 which has been a massive success with hundreds of children participating in this fun event. The 2023 event was staged at Hallhill Sports Centre in Dunbar on Sunday 14 May and was as popular as ever with over 450 children from ages P3 to P7 from East Lothian, the Borders and Edinburgh taking part in an exciting day of rugby. This year’s event, held at Hallhill Sports Centre in Dunbar on Sunday, 5 May, involved 450 to 500 primary school children from Berwick, Dunbar, Duns, Gifford, Haddington, and North Berwick. A visiting team from Merthyr in Wales and girls' teams from Dunbar, Strathendrick, and Stirling County also came together for an exhilarating day of rugby.
