Giving pupils an insight into the STEM industry

Assistant Engineer Becky Noble and Management Trainee Emily Carney taught the group of 7 to 11 year olds about how homes and communities can be sustainably built, and gave them an insight into what it’s like working for a housing developer, hoping to inspire children to pursue a career in STEM from an early age.

The school, situated nearby to our
Berrymead Gardens development, also received a collection of School Engagement Packs, containing a variety of fun and educational activities created by our graduate team, as part of a UK wide initiative to inform and excite young people about the industry and to raise awareness of the possible career opportunities.

Kirsty Allen, Year 2 teacher at Staindrop C of E Primary School, said: “We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for taking the time to talk to our pupils. Becky and Emily were brilliant and did a fantastic job of delivering a highly engaging and interactive session on careers. The children loved finding out more about the industry, particularly with Taylor Wimpey.”
