Buyers take a step up the property ladder with Taylor Wimpey

When Stuart Rollo and his partner Lisa Thomson needed to take a step up the ladder to have more space for their growing family, a call to Taylor Wimpey’s sales executive Alex at its Letham Mains development in Haddington made their dream come true.

Perfect place to call home

The couple were the proud owners of a three bedroom Boswell in the development but with their two girls – Hayley (aged 9) and Rebecca (aged 7) and their new dog, Leo, they had set their sights on taking a step up the ladder without moving too far from home.

Following a great experience with Taylor Wimpey previously, the couple looked no further than their existing development. They had stayed in touch with their sales executive Alex who was able to chat through the homes available that would suit their requirements, and they recently moved into an impressive Geddes four bedroom detached home that ticks all of their boxes as a growing family.

More space for the family

Stuart, who is a driver for the local Belhaven Brewery explains more: “We bought our first new home together at this development around three years ago and we have been really impressed with Taylor Wimpey since day one. For me, based on our previous experience, if we decided to move to another new home, it would have to be here at Letham Mains and it would have to be a Taylor Wimpey house.

"With the girls growing up and needing more space, Lisa working more from home more, and the arrival of our new dog Leo, it was time for us to move to a larger house. A quick email to Alex confirmed a choice of four or five homes for us to think about.

The couple really liked the layout of the Geddes house and one plot at the development had caught their eye, as Lisa adds: “We love this house upstairs and down. The bedrooms are all a really good size, there’s lots of storage and with me working from home more now, I can have one bedroom as a home office which is great. Stuart also really loves the way the house flows downstairs. The lounge is cosy and the large kitchen/diner with French doors to the back garden is just great.

“As a busy family, the Geddes has enough space for everyone to be able to relax. The girls absolutely love having a ‘Jack/Jill’ en suite – it's such a great feature of this house, and it means they both have equal access to an en suite shower room, which is great now but will be even handier they grow up.”

Moving made simple

Stuart and Lisa also took advantage of Taylor Wimpey’s Easymover scheme which made the whole process so simple and easy as Stuart continues: “The Easymover scheme is brilliant because it means you can get Taylor Wimpey’s help to sell your current house, as well as help towards some of your legal fees and moving costs.

“Before we signed up to Easymover, the whole process was clearly explained and honestly it was so easy and straightforward. They made everything so hassle-free. They arranged for a couple of estate agents to give us a valuation of our house, and we were able to choose the company that we wanted to go on the market with.

Everything was taken care of efficiently and smoothly. You have eight weeks to sell your home using Easymover, but our house sold within a couple of weeks and Taylor Wimpey took care of everything for us. Quite simply it is something less for you to worry about and you can just look forward to moving to your new home.”

Moving into a new home can be stressful but Taylor Wimpey aims to make the whole process as easy and enjoyable as possible. The second time around the couple was equally impressed with the team’s attention to detail on their move-in day as Lisa adds: “Our experience moving in was really good, in fact, it was more exciting this time around because we knew what to expect and how brilliant it would all be.

“We were out of our previous house for about two weeks before moving into the new house, so we were just so excited to move back in as though we’d never really left. Plus, we all really love how the development has grown to be such a lovely community. With the new school literally on our doorstep and the green spaces around us - we were delighted to be back in our new home to just get on with family life.”

High-quality homes

For buyers considering buying a new home, Stuart has this advice: “Buy it! When I’m out walking Leo, I often see people driving or walking around the development doing their research. I have no hesitation in stopping and saying to people that Taylor Wimpey builds good quality houses, they are energy-efficient and well-insulated, and their aftercare is superb.”

Lisa adds: “I think the fact that we bought our first home from Taylor Wimpey and then took a step up the ladder to our forever home with them says it all really.”
