Couple thrilled to start their new life in Sully with a Taylor Wimpey home

Meet Callum Keating and Isabella Kuck, a young couple who recently found their dream first home at our Gwêl yr Ynys development in Sully.

Dream first home

Before deciding to join our Gwêl yr Ynys community, Callum and Isabella ventured on an extensive search, determined to find a home that would check all their boxes. Isabella said: “We were searching for our first home for over a year before we found the perfect one for us at Gwel yr Ynys. We viewed five other properties in Sully and Penarth, but found ourselves compromising on quite big things that we would have ideally liked, things such as off-road parking, a garage and three bedrooms.”

Their journey eventually led them to our doorstep in early 2022, where the development's unique charm immediately seized their attention. Callum recalled, "After every viewing and search on Rightmove, we always found ourselves walking around the development at Gwêl yr Ynys. We loved how spaced out the houses are and how quiet it is. We also really liked the ecological area and the fields that surround the development, making you feel like you’re in the countryside. Prior to buying our first home, we lived within five minutes of Gwêl yr Ynys. This appealed to us even more as it meant we were still close to our family, the areas that we socialise in and still only a 15-minute drive from Cardiff City Centre - where we both work."

Callum and Isabella's choice of one of our homes was strongly influenced by the positive recommendations they received from trusted confidants. Callum said: “We had heard nothing but positive things from our family and friends about their experience with Taylor Wimpey. They also have a very user-friendly website called Touchpoint. After speaking [about it] to friends and family, it appealed to us to be able to pick things like our kitchen on a portal at a time that was convenient for us. We knew how fussy we are and knew it would take a little while to find the perfect interior, but it was made a lot easier by having a portal that you can access anywhere at any time.”

Their ultimate pick – a three-bedroom Coltford – was their top choice for a multitude of reasons. With Isabella explaining: “The first reason is the garage, which has proven to be really handy for extra storage, even though the house has plenty already. Another reason is the fact [that] the bedrooms are spacious with built-in wardrobes. The third bedroom currently makes a really good office, making working from home more enjoyable. We also love how well insulated the house is, meaning it is cool in the summer and hot in the winter when we put the heating on.”

Callum and Isabella’s life in their new Gwêl yr Ynys home has been nothing short of delightful. They said: “We are both really enjoying life at Gwêl yr Ynys. The development's peaceful and quiet ambiance has been a real asset, providing a sense of tranquillity that we appreciate. Our modern home, with its practical layout and contemporary design, has become a place where we find comfort and make lasting memories.”

To those considering a new build with Taylor Wimpey, Callum offers enthusiastic advice: "We would say to other people thinking about buying a new build to not hesitate. The whole process from start to finish was simple, from initial reservation to completion. The process of picking the interior was straightforward and the site visits meant we could see the progress of our home being built. I would also say that Taylor Wimpey has amazing aftercare for their customers, and even left us a welcome hamper which was a really nice touch."
