Couple Upsize to Countryside Living at Downland

Brogan Wilson (30), a Copywriter, moved into her new home at our Downland development in Kingsgrove with her partner in March 2024, to upsize from their two bedroom home in High Wycombe.

From pre-owned to new-build

They considered both new-builds and previously owned homes when choosing their new home, but ultimately opted for a new-build home after previously owning a pre-owned one. Brogan said: "Our previous home required a lot of work when we moved in. So we loved the fact that with a new-build home, we could choose our options in terms of finishes and move straight in without having to do our own DIY.

"Another clear benefit of new-build homes is that they are much more energy efficient than pre-owned ones, which could help to save us a lot of money on utility bills."

The perfect home

Brogan said: "We wanted to move somewhere slightly more rural than where we had been living, with more of a town and country living-type feel, and Downland offered us just that. Oxford and Reading are also nearby, as well as major roads for commuting to work."

They decided that the three bedroom Amersham house type was perfect for them after visiting a showhome, Brogan said: "We were impressed by the size of the bedrooms and how spacious the upstairs felt. The separate study was also a huge benefit to us as we both typically work from home and this meant we didn't have to turn one of the bedrooms into a home office."

The Amersham house type offers flexible living with three bedrooms, a study, an integrated garage and a downstairs cloakroom for extra storage space. The open plan kitchen and dining area has French doors leading into the rear garden.

When asked what the purchasing process was like, Brogan said: "It was incredibly easy. We visited the Amersham showhome and expressed our interest in a plot. We then booked our reservation appointment and everything from that point on was smooth sailing. The sales team were excellent - they were incredibly helpful and answered all of our questions and also gave us frequent updates about our home."

Now that they've settled in at Downland, Brogan shared their favourite things about their new home and the development: "I really like the kitchen and dining area with the doors leading into the garden. I love sitting in our garden on warm days and having the patio doors open while I'm cooking dinner. I also like the green spaces at Downland as I enjoy taking my dog out for long walks.
