We have started the planning process for our next phase. We will be building 1 & 2 Bedroom Apartments and 2 & 3 Bedroom Homes with a few 4 Bedroom Homes.

At this stage we are not in a position to advise when we will be releasing any more properties for sale at our Forge Wood development. The next release of homes will have completions anticipated in 2017.

    Help to Buy gives couple the chance to find their first home together at Forge Wood

    Lee Tandy and Jennifer Pratt are enjoying life in their first house together – thanks to the popular Help to Buy scheme.

    The couple were both living at home with their parents – Jennifer in Pound Hill and Lee in Crawley Down – and took advantage of the Government-backed initiative to secure a new-build house with a garden at our development, which they moved into in August 2015.

    As Lee explains, the scheme – which added a Government loan of 20% of their new home’s full price to the 5% deposit they had saved – meant they could afford a much bigger home than they had originally anticipated.

    With a 75% loan-to-value mortgage, Help to Buy customers also benefit from much lower mortgage repayments each month than they would  otherwise have faced.

    “Help to Buy gave us the majority of our deposit,” Lee says, “and the fact that it was available at Forge Wood was one of the main reasons we bought  with Taylor Wimpey.

    “Without it, we wouldn’t have been able to afford the house we’re in – we were able to buy a two-bedroom end-of-terrace rather than a flat, which  means we’ve got a garden and two parking spaces. I really like having a garden and being outside.”

    Although it was the first time the couple had gone through the home-buying process, Lee says that it was all really straightforward.

    “It was quite an easy process as there was no chain,” he explains. “We just went and visited the site, had a chat with the Sales Executives and put  down a deposit!

    “The Sales Executives were very friendly. Because we were first-time buyers we didn’t know much about how it all worked, and they were good at explaining everything and happy to answer any questions we had. They were also very helpful in helping us make decisions about the kitchen and bathrooms.

     “We wanted everything done before we moved in so we chose carpets and flooring from the Taylor Wimpey Options range.

     “After the build, the Site Manager came round and offered us any assistance we needed. We’re very happy with Taylor Wimpey and very grateful for the help they gave us.”

    Forge Wood is the perfect location for Lee (28) and Jennifer (27), close to family and friends and also their work. Lee works at Gatwick and Heathrow airports, while Jennifer works for a travel firm in Dorking.

    “We’d driven past the site lots of times before we bought here and we know the area really well,” adds Lee. “It’s less than a mile down the road to Gatwick which is ideal for getting to work. I’ve cycled to work a few times if it’s a nice day, which is very convenient. It’s also easy to get to the M23 and you’ve got everything in Crawley close by too.”
