Couple celebrate retirement move to Castle Manor
Kerry Bridge, 59, and her husband Paul, 60, recently made the decision to leave their home of thirty years in Staffordshire and relocate to Ashby, as part of their retirement plans. The couple’s move to Castle Manor has proven to be the perfect choice, as the development provides a vibrant new lifestyle, with a range of local amenities and natural beauty spots in the surrounding areas, whilst enabling them to be closer to family members.
Kerry explains: “We had lived in the same village for thirty years, but when we retired last year, we felt it was time for a change. Ashby has everything we wanted - it’s close to family, and the town offers so many facilities, from cafes and independent shops to restaurants. Plus, being on the edge of the National Forest, there are countless walks and cycle routes right on our doorstep.”
The couple was drawn to Castle Manor primarily because of its location, as well as its impressive design. Kerry added: “The development’s plans included green spaces, and we were excited to see that our house is next to the coal path which Taylor Wimpey has made a feature of - it’s a distinctive piece of heritage outside our front door.”
Since moving in, Kerry and Paul have been impressed with the design and layout of their three bedroom Easedale home. Kerry said: “We absolutely love it. The room sizes are fantastic, and the double-aspect windows in many rooms flood the house with natural light. There’s plenty of space for our family to stay over, and the larger-than-usual windows create a bright, airy atmosphere throughout.”
When asked about other favourite features of their new home, Kerry added: “The patio doors from the lounge open out to our south facing garden, blending the indoor and outdoor spaces perfectly. Even though we downsized, this house certainly doesn’t feel small - the light, spacious landing and generous kitchen and living spaces all add to the sense of openness.”
The couple was attracted to the energy efficiency of a new build and the effortless buying experience offered by Taylor Wimpey. Kerry explained: “We chose to purchase a new home because they are more energy efficient and we’re so pleased with our decision. The buying experience with Taylor Wimpey has also been smooth and hassle-free. Everyone was incredibly helpful and, at the time of purchase, our home was the house of the week, so it came with nearly £10,000 worth of upgrades included, which was a fantastic surprise.”
Although the development is still under construction, Kerry and Paul are excited to see the new community take shape. Kerry said: “We’ve only been here since July, and we can already see how much the site has developed. It’s great to know that we can walk into town and enjoy everything Ashby has to offer.”
