A home is more than just a house, it's also about the community that surrounds it. And that's why we invest in building communities that support local businesses, improve facilities in the area and help bring people together.
Our contributions to the community
Across the Bristol region, we have supported numerous organisations and charities throughout 2024 to make a difference within the community.Among the causes we supported last year was our Charity of the Year for 2024, Caring in Bristol. Back in December, we donated £2,000 as well as clothing to Caring in Bristol, a charity that supports homeless and vulnerable people across the region.
Over the course of last year, we donated approximately £20,000 to community groups, causes and schools including Quedegley Community Pantry, Children’s Hospice South West, Avon & Somerset Search and Rescue and Nailsea in Bloom among others.
Rob Curry, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Bristol said: “At Taylor Wimpey, we’re passionate about supporting the communities close to our developments across the Bristol region. We’re honoured to have been able to support so many important causes over the course of 2024 and we’re looking forward to furthering our support during the coming year.”
Seal of Excellence
Now in its 44th year, the Pride in the Job Quality Awards have become the benchmark for exceptional site managers and are awarded following a rigorous judging process. Thousands of inspections have taken place to determine this year’s 449 winners from a field of more than 8,000 sites, and Taylor Wimpey Bristol’s wins put each site manager in the top 5% of site managers across the UK.
James Logan, Site Manager at Oak Park in Cheddar, Somerset, added: “This award is testament to our hard work both at Oak Park and across the region. I’m thrilled our commitment has been recognised.”
Francois Lodder, Production Director at Taylor Wimpey Bristol, said: “We have always been committed to maintaining the highest levels of quality and customer service and we continue to be an NHBC award-winning homebuilder year after year. This award is thoroughly deserved and we’re incredibly proud of James and the teams at our Oak Park development.”
Steve Wood, CEO at the NHBC says: “For more than four decades, Pride in the Job has underpinned NHBC’s purpose of raising standards in house building. The competition recognises the UK’s top site managers, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence.
“Winning site managers demonstrate dedication, passion and leadership to ensure new homes are delivered to exacting construction quality standards. While house building is a team effort, we believe the greatest influence on the quality of a finished home is the calibre of the site manager and the way they inspire their team. Congratulations to all the winners.”
Pride in the Job has five categories: small, medium and large builders, plus multi-storey for projects up to seven storeys and high-rise for projects more than seven storeys.
What our customers say
Couple find their fresh start at our Oak Park development in Cheddar
After retiring and deciding to be closer to their children and grandchildren, Anne and John Hammond have found their dream home at Taylor Wimpey’s Oak Park development in Cheddar.
Having lived in St Ives, Cornwall for almost 20 years, Anne and John decided the time was right to relocate closer to their family. Anne said: “The decision to move home didn’t come easily to us. St Ives is a beautiful part of the country and the place we’ve called home for almost 20 years, but it was becoming clear to us that we wanted to be nearer to our children and grandchildren. So we circled where everyone is on a map, and found a middle spot which luckily for us happened to be in the Somerset and Bristol area!”
After running a guest house back in St Ives, which underwent several renovations and an extension, Anne and John knew that they wanted a new-build home with all the work already taken care of.
Anne said: “When we visited other housebuilders developments, we felt like the houses were a bit too close together and there was a crowded feeling, but once we found Oak Park, we knew that the development was what we were looking for, with the houses spaced further apart and lots of green space.”
Sales executive Georgia introduced Anne and John to the development, and suggested they take a look at the four-bedroom detached Waysdale style home.
“We knew we needed a three or four bedroom home”, Anne said. “We wanted enough space for us, and plenty of room for when the grandchildren come to visit and stay over at weekends or in the summer holidays. After taking a look at the Waysdale, we knew it was the perfect place for us.”
Anne continued: “We were smitten at once. The house is light and airy and exactly what we’d hoped for. We moved in during the summer last year and we have loved every minute of being here.”
Anne has a few favourite areas in her new home, including her open-plan kitchen/diner and separate dining room, which John has transformed into his own music studio. The couple also love their new garden, and set to work straightaway upon moving in to make the space theirs.
“We have lived here for a year now and couldn’t be happier,” Anne said. “Our home is beautiful and we even have a view of the Mendip hills. It’s everything we were hoping to find when we decided to move.”
Anne continued: “The welcome we received from everyone on site was amazing and James, the Site Manager, along with Georgia, could not do enough for us, before, during and after our move. Even now, we see staff walking past and they always wave or say hello, it’s just a really lovely place to be.”
