Happy family settle into their new home after finding everything they could ask for in Dawlish
A happy family have found their ideal family home after moving into a spacious new build in Dawlish.
Dave Smith and his wife, who have two young children, were looking for a home that would suit their growing family while also offering a peaceful setting. After exploring their options, they chose a four-bedroom detached home at Brook Vale - as they were attracted by both the location and the design of the development.
Set in a quiet and scenic area, Brook Vale also stood out to Dave and his wife for its welcoming feel. Having already lived in Dawlish, the couple were keen to find a home that offered plenty of space for growing kids that was close to local amenities. Brook Vale’s thoughtfully designed layout proved to be exactly what they were looking for.
Dave said: “We really liked the area straight away. The development feels very open and spacious, and it’s quiet, which is perfect for us as a family. The house itself has a great layout and works really well for everyday life with two children.”
The location was also a key factor in their decision as the family relocated to stay within Dawlish. Brook Vale benefits from a good range of local services, including schools, shops and rail and road transport links, making it a convenient place to settle long term.
To make their move as straightforward as possible, the couple took advantage of Taylor Wimpey’s Part Exchange scheme, which helped remove much of the stress often associated with moving home.
Dave said: “The Part Exchange process was seamless. It made the whole move far easier than we expected and took away a lot of the usual pressure.”
Now settled into their new home, Dave and his wife couldn’t be happier with their decision.

Taylor Wimpey's hands-on learning experience for college learners
Co-led by Taylor Wimpey’s Emma Hopkins, Apprentice Manager and Max Norman, Assistant Site Manager, the experience was designed to offer learners first-hand insights into the construction industry.Emma, Max and the Taylor Wimpey Exeter team worked with learners to create two large brick planters around the outdoor seating area of the learner café at the college.
To make the experience special, each brick used was engraved with the names of current learners, ensuring every participant had a personal connection to their work.
Dan Miliffe, Head of Careers and Futures at Oakwood Specialist College, said: “This year, our partnership with Taylor Wimpey has been truly transformative and has given our Learners hands-on construction experience that ignites career aspirations and develops confidence.
“The impact was profound, Learners not only developed practical skills but also gained a newfound sense of pride and ownership in their contributions.”
Emma Hopkins, Apprentice Manager at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: "At Taylor Wimpey we aim to inspire and educate the next generation of industry workers. We value our partnerships with local schools and colleges as an opportunity to provide important experiences for the next generation studying or looking to study construction.
“We’ve really enjoyed our projects with Oakwood Specialist College throughout the 2024/25 academic year and look forward to carrying out other projects in the months ahead.”
We support community wellbeing project
We have donated £500 to a community allotment project in Dawlish that aims to help enhance individuals physical and mental health, as well as increase wellbeing opportunities in the area. The project, called Plot 30, was spearheaded by Browns Brook Allotment Association committee in partnership with the local council. Two allotments have been transformed into an accessible community space where visitors can help plant, weed, water and harvest produce, or simply enjoy a cup of tea and conversation in peaceful surroundings.
Designed to be inclusive and accessible, the space includes wheelchair-friendly pathways and raised beds to create a welcoming environment for all members of the community. The allotment also welcomes children’s groups to take part in activities including bug hunts, seed planting and learning where food comes from.
Our donation will help fund further improvements to the second allotment plot, including additional wheelchair-friendly paths, raised beds and a new polytunnel.
Sue, a volunteer at Plot 30 said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Taylor Wimpey for supporting our project. This donation will help us continue creating an accessible and welcoming space where people can enjoy the positive impact that gardening, nature and community can have on both physical and mental wellbeing.”
Emma Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “Plot 30 is a fantastic example of how community spaces can make a real difference to people’s wellbeing. We’re delighted to support such an inclusive and worthwhile local initiative and hope our donation will help the project continue to grow.”
