charming cobbled market town of Yarm, which features a lively highstreet with a mix of traditional shops, charming artisan cafes, and independent boutiques.
Meet Lorraine, our dedicated sales executive who is local to the area. With 25 years of experience at Taylor Wimpey, Lorraine finds working with Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire to be “fulfilling and exciting every day.”
She shares, “It’s a true privilege to be part of the Oakland’s team from the very beginning as it’s such a beautiful village. I cycle to work because I like to see the lovely scenery.”
Speaking about her role as sales exec, Lorraine said; “My day-to-day role involves guiding customers through the home-buying process, from their first visit all the way through to moving in. I’m also responsible for maintaining the presentation of the development and show homes. My favourite part of the job is helping someone find their dream home - handing over the keys to a new homeowner is very rewarding.”
As a local, Lorraine is thrilled to contribute to a growing community that will benefit the area. “I’m excited to continue to watch the Oaklands community flourish. Being local, I enjoy recommending places to eat and things to do — my favourite restaurant is Cena in Yarm.”
Lee, Site Manager at Oaklands, has been with Taylor Wimpey for 20 years and has spent the last two years working at this development. Lee is an award winning site manager and was awarded the prestigious Regional Winner for the NHBC Pride in the Job awards 2024. Lee takes pride in his role, saying, “It’s been incredibly fulfilling to grow within this company, and I’m proud to be part of the team.”
Lee plays a key part in the team, his duties include, programming and planning, meetings with sales and contractors, maintaining quality control checks and motivating the workforce. He shares his love for the job: “Each day presents challenges that need solving, and that’s what I love about it. I enjoy creating a site that’s not only of the highest quality but also a place where the team enjoys working.”
Lee highlights his favourite feature of Oaklands: “The views from the development are absolutely stunning. The Kingham house type is particularly special to me—it would be the perfect home for my family, with its spacious layout and views which look onto Urra Moor, it is just lovely.”
Lee and Lorraine share their advice for those who are seeking their dream home with Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire. Lee says: “I advise people to come and visit Lorraine in our sales office to discuss all your options and to see the beautiful landscapes Oaklands has to offer.”
Lorraine adds: “Even if you’re just starting to explore your options, please come and see me. Don’t wait—this development will sell out quickly! I always encourage prospective buyers to visit, no matter where they are in the process, so they can get a feel for the homes, the location, and the overall development. I look forward to meeting many new buyers and watching the Oaklands community grow!”

Nicki Hope, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire says: “It’s a real shame that hedgehog numbers have declined so dramatically over the last 20 years. Through our partnership with Hedgehog Street we hope to raise awareness of the simple things people can do to help protect them and to play our part by installing hedgehog highways at our developments.
"We asked students at Kirklevington Primary School to design a poster for us to mark the unveiling of the highway at Oaklands. We were delighted with all of the creative entries we received and the designs will now proudly sit in our Oaklands sales office for customers to see.”
