Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties has provided a £250 donation to the Chichester Ship Canal Trust, the charity behind the canal, to help provide a boost as restrictions ease and life gets closer to normal.

Places for all to enjoy

The canal in Chichester is valued by local residents and holidaymakers who enjoy the many activities available, including regular boat trips, rowing boat hire, canoeing, paddle boarding and walking.

The operation and maintenance of the canal is the responsibility of Chichester Ship Canal Trust, a small volunteer run charity that keeps the canal towpath and waterway safe and accessible for all to enjoy.

Catherine Cannon, Trustee and Vice Chair, Chichester Ship Canal Trust, comments: “We’re very grateful for this donation from Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties which will help us to keep the canal open and safe as we know how popular it is in our local area.

“COVID-19 may have stopped some of our operations but now our popular boat trips are running regularly, and the waterside café is very well supported. As we move towards our 200th anniversary, we’re thrilled that a local business reached out and offered a helping hand, which is always welcome.”

Roz Wells, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “Helping organisations close to where we build is something we’re proud of and we felt that because Chichester canal is so important to the area, we could offer a donation to help as summer is in full swing.

“We pride ourselves on giving multiple regular small donations to local causes in the communities around our developments and we’re pleased to contribute to an organisation that promotes outdoor activity and makes sure the canal is looking its best.”

Situated just an 8-minute drive from Chichester canal, Taylor Wimpey’s Shopwyke Lakes development comprises a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes with great access to local amenities and green spaces.
