We commemorate Remembrance Day

To commemorate the country’s fallen soldiers, our Midlands team hosted a Remembrance Day event at the Flying Fields development in Southam, on Saturday 13th November

The local Southam Royal Air Force Cadets kicked off the day’s events with a wreath-laying ceremony in front of the aircraft statue located at the entrance of the development. The statue was covered in 750 hand-knitted poppies which were placed by the local community to honour the 450 Southam service personnel members, as well as family and friends of armed forces members both past and present.

Zoe-Estelle Piper-Iliffe, organiser of the Remembrance Day event, said: “It has been a privilege to be part of the Remembrance Day event at Flying Fields and I’m so pleased that lots of Southam residents could join us in paying their respects. I look forward to organising next year’s event for the local community.”

Ben Walker, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: “We are proud to pay tribute to those that have fought and still fight for our country at our recent Remembrance Day event. Our Flying Fields development was once known as RAF Southam and played an important role in the training of new pilots during the Second World War, so we are honoured to celebrate its rich history.

“We want to thank all those who came to our event on Saturday, and a special thank you to the local air cadets who made the event even more special.”
