We continue our support for School Uniform Banks across Scotland

While the school summer holidays are now in full swing, for some returning to school is already on their mind. As part of our ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities, we have donated £250 to six local school uniform banks in Scotland.

Feeling of belonging

This is an increase on our donations to three school uniform banks last year, and our aim for this year is to help boost their efforts to provide school uniforms for children returning to schools in local communities across the Central Belt after the summer break. This year’s recipients are: The Edinburgh School Uniform Bank; Carefree Kids East Lothian; The School Bank West Lothian; Back to School East Kilbride; Cool School Uniforms (North Lanarkshire) and Back to School East Renfrewshire.

The general aim of school uniform banks is to support families in need because every child deserves to look and feel smart at school, to feel that they belong, and to avoid the negative effects of hardship on their wellbeing and education. Some uniform banks accept and issue pre-loved and new school clothing, while others only accept and provide donations of new items – but they are all united in their mission to provide positive support for the families and children who need them in their local areas.

Kirsty McGill, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland said: “We are part of many local communities and we are proud to extend our help to more school uniform banks this year. We know these donations will go to work straight away to boost the efforts of the school uniform banks that are operating within some of the communities where we are building.”

Back to School East Kilbride were one of the school uniform banks in the west of Scotland to receive a donation from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland. Kathleen Crymble, Project Manager for Back to School East Kilbride, adds: “Each year we distribute new school uniform and school items to help families across East Kilbride each year."

Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland comments: “Being able to work with local charities and organisations where we build new homes means a great deal to us, and it’s always lovely to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in our local communities.”

Our donation to six school uniform banks in Scotland is one of the many contributions being made across the UK.
